isitafox
I'm having yet another problem with the Heavy Tools! After sorting the chain/freewheel issue out now I have another problem come to light. When I'm riding along, not even under much strain, when I push the left pedal down when it gets to the bottom of the stroke it clicks. At first I thought it was the pedal but that runs smooth enough and is brand new so shouldn't be anything wrong. Now its been a long time since I did any mechanical work on my bike but do you reckon it could just be the bottom bracket isn't tight enough? If thats the case I'll have to sort another toll out as the ice tools one I've got won't reach enough to tighten the lock ring anymore as the spindle is touching inside! Little Yoshi
I have the same thing. Wats causing mine is that the axle has worn against the bearing so the axle moves a wee bit then the bearing starts to move.
Trials Punk
As above, could be a dead bottom bracket. Could be something as simple as taking the BB out to put copper slip on the threads, put it back in. Put some copper slip on the splines or taper of the BB that the crank sits on. Could help. Mtchell
As lads above had said mate just grease up your BB axle mine had same thing dry out with this weather causing it to creak and click and its a new BB. Try it out more than likely find it,ll work
AdamR28
Sounds like: BB loose in frame Crank loose on BB Pedal loose into crank If you disassemble then re-assemble that should sort it
isitafox
Sounds like: BB loose in frame Crank loose on BB Pedal loose into crank If you disassemble then re-assemble that should sort it That was my first thought but the bb tool won't quite reach enough to tighten the lockring up anymre as the spindle is touching inside and just holding it off the splines! Nowts goin right for me with this bike at the mo!
isitafox
Well I've given up with it, can't tighten BB up as the splines have all but sheared off on one side and the tool won't reach over the axle on the other side. I've noticed that the crank bolts can be tightened up more an more everytime I ride for 5 mins or so, so thought it might just be the cranks slipping just slightly on the splines so will have to just take an allen key everywhere an keep tightening! Dan6061
I'd say it could just be dirt/grit somewhere. Between the bars and stem on the clamp, or on the BB splines, pedal axle/bearings... Anywhere! Give everything a clean up and service, see how you get on...
