rupintart
It squeeking could be a number of things, but tell us WHEN it squeaks and how it squeaks. Does it squeak when you turn the bars, or when you are rolling, or only under heavy braking, etc.

Tarquin
Many years ago a friend had a creaky front end, ignored it, and a day later his fork steerer snapped. If you're checking the headset, might be worth going over your forks closely at the same time? T

That sounds like it could be a flared headtube, which sadly would mean a new frame. Look at the forks very very closely for cracks and such first, remove the stem then hold the forks securely and rock them backwards and forward. They will move anyway but watch the headset cups very closely, if they move in the frame you have a problem.
