psycholist
I tried muc-off on a contaminated disk recently and it was very effective. If water is beading on the disk rather than forming a continuous film then it's got oil on it...
davey1991
Yerp you gone got oil on your pads. New pads, clean rotor, be more carefull next time. Plus its an avid elixir..
bigamac
Plus its an avid elixir.. Says it all. There an MTB disk brake, not needed for instant stopping power like we need in trials.
psycholist
Give the old pads a wash with the same degreaser you used on the disk and see if they still work. My Hope ones were perfect after the brake leaked DOT fluid onto the disk last week - The banjo fitting got hit, which unscrewed it slightly from the caliper. A not so quick bleed and degrease later it's spot on again...
craigjames
Seems like its a reoccurring issue witht he latest Avid brakes, they all seem to howl, whether wet or dry of contaminated.

N.Wood
Yerp you gone got oil on your pads. New pads, clean rotor, be more carefull next time. Plus its an avid elixir.. Not really neccesary most of the time. Everyone has their own tried and tested methods, mine being burning the pads in a bath of meths. TrialZonn
Last time I went through this I bought a new disk brake. But muc-off and a good cleaning may work for you. If not, and you want to buy another Avid disk brake, you should go with the BB7.It's a fantastic brake and you get tremendous braking power.I'm currently running one and I'm very pleased with it! LordMersey
Sorted just sprayed some muc-off onto both pads and rotor which seemed to do the trick
