peggysue
is the bcd the measurement from the crank arms main chainring holes ? i.e hole to hole at the longest point . i see raceface cranks have either 94mm compact or 110mm. i have crappy fsa's at the min with a tooth fairy steel bashring, would it not fit onto raceface cranks with a 110mm bcd? ..... i measured the power pro's and it seems about 94mm from hole to hole ........ Matthew62
Is it 5 arm you're going for? IF so, i'd always go compact. IF you have to you can get a new chainring for only a few bucks.

Almost all modern MTB chainsets (including raceface) use the 4 arm compact design, which is 64mm inner ring and 104mm middle/outer ring. 5 arm is an old design now which hasn't been used for many years. Standard 5 arm is 110/74mm and compact is 94/58mm. Check out Sheldon Brown for more info.
Matthew62
Thats what i was getting at and wondered if he was using old cranks as 5 arm seems dead. I can remember when 4 arm was being fased out by 5 arm, i was never happy - glad it didn't happen.
peggysue
atm i have fsa powerpro cranks with a middleburn 20 tooth chainring and one of those small steel tooth fairy bashrings on the outer arms ... its a 5 arm crank........... the raceface ive seen are a 5 arm design and the listing says they are not compact ,they are the bigger 110bcd.... i wasnt sure what that meant so measured my bashring holes and they appear 94mm which according to raceface is the compact version. so i take it the cranks wouyld be no good for chainring and bashgaurd that im currently using? just remeasured and my chainring is 58mm hole to hole and the bashring is 94mm Edited March 12, 2010 by peggysue
LEON
Stay compact with 5 arm, the old bigger size is virtually obselete and I'm pretty sure no one makes bash guards for them. I swear by 5 arm, I just think 4 arm looks crap, what was wrong with 5?
