Ollie Histon
Hey, i know there was a topic a while back that had the same theme, but since the upgrade the search seems to deny remember anything. I'm looking for some hip hop, it's hard to explain cos im an idiot, but i guess its like old school, light hearted, used a lot in TM1/TM2. that sort of genre. sorry about the terrible description, but im sure you'll know what kind of hip hop i mean. Tony Harrison
Sugar Hill Gang No, the Sugar Hill Gang was some bitch saying, oh look, everyone's liking this new 'hip hop' thing - let's make a record that'll sell. It was a f'cking sham.

mr kenny
the wu tang clan ( i think the album was called enter the wu tang chamber ) were used in tm1 or tm2 as was a tune called hip hop by the dead prez ( if you like a bit of metal check out static x and dead prez - hip hop from an album called loud rocks) some cool old skool stuff i'd say would be Jurassic 5 or pharcyde ( especially bizzare ride to the pharcyde) hope this helps a wee bit Kenny

Ben Swales
If you fancy checking out some UK stuff, give DJ Format, Phi Life Cypher, Foreign Beggars a listen. If you don't mind French you might want to have a look at Iam and Le Peuple de L'Herbe (these are a bit dubbier). Ozomatli's album by the same name is cool also - features Chali 2na from Jurassic 5 Edited March 9, 2010 by Ben Swales
1a2bcio8
If you're open to some sureal rhyming with a morphine melody, I suggest "Clouddead". Music to pleasurably eat your fingers to. Probably my most favourite hiphop.
Max Quinn
I'm not such an old school head, but other than what's already mentioned some of the following have that kinda vibe you're describing. Abstract Tribe Unique Blue Schollars Braille Collosus Company Flow Doomtree Eyedea & Abilities Freddy Joachim Ghost (athough he's a producer so the vibe depends alot on who the tracks got on the mic) Giant Panda (not too much of a fan but alot of peope like him so judge for yourself) Grayskul Guru (who's in hospital after a heart attack so show some love) The Herd J Dilla (legendary producer) The Herd Jazz Liberatorz Jazz Poets Society Mr J Madeiros Murs Muneshine Madvillain MF Doom Gangstarr Mick Boogie Moodswing Ohmega Watts Othello Pete Phully & Perquisite Life/Phi Life Cypher Psyche Origami The Roots Soul Position Souls of Mischief A Tribe Called Quest Ugly Duckling Wale Should be enough to work off lol. If you're open to some sureal rhyming with a morphine melody, I suggest "Clouddead". Music to pleasurably eat your fingers to. Probably my most favourite hiphop. I know it's 'deep' an all, but i swear their lyrics literally just make no sense half the time, and they just put stuff in literally to find a rhyme

Basically the reason I like the ryhming so much. Even though it's nonsense however, it does evoke some interesting imagery

Not a fan of the flow or style either.

craigjames
On top of those already mentioned: Aspects- although they are know more Jehst Lewis Parker Taskforce Abdominal- If you check DJ Format you'll hear him no doubt DJ Louis Slipperz Klashnekoff- might be a lil grimey
Max Quinn
No offence Craig, some of those artists are my favourite lyricists, but there also known for being the darker, usually more depressing side of UK Hip Hop, a scene with a pretty negative attitude to begin with.
