Luke.P
Well basically my rim is skinny and my forks are zoo 07 pretty wide so when i set up my brake the pads are miles away from the rim and will not go any further.. Before i bleed it, the pistones was sort of lazy and was half way out which work well because the rim was skinny and the was close to it. I will be swapping to disk soon but just wonder how could i get the pistones to stick out more ?? thanks luke
Ash-Kennard
there is a technique called over bleeding, basically getting more water in the brake on an already full brake. or you could do the pad bodge, not sure people know about this anymore with everyone having cnced backings though. Ash-Kennard
do you own any mole grips? pull the pistons out with the mole grips slightly, then bleed it
PeanuckleJive
do you own any mole grips? pull the pistons out with the mole grips slightly, then bleed it Yup Grip the little nubby and pull the pistons out, then twist your grips slightly so they rest on two of the little tabs that stick out so you can keep the pistons out while you bleed Make sure you don't take the grips off until you've fully bled and reinstalled the bleed screws
The Hitcher
What about using some tensile offset mounts, but reversing them? Or will the slave catch? O by the way, its piston not pistone
Ben John-Hynes
or you could do the pad bodge, not sure people know about this anymore with everyone having cnced backings though. That where you glue an backing onto the back of your current pad? Overbleeding seems like a good suggestion. Or, as said, tensile mounts. Luke.P
Il try and glue the back of the pads and then use something underneath the pads to hold them up. Thanks for your help Edited March 9, 2010 by Luke.P
trialsmax04
do you own any mole grips? pull the pistons out with the mole grips slightly, then bleed it By very very carefull! The pistons are only plastic and the small pad clip breaks of very easily. I ruined both of my slaves.
Alex Dark
Yup Grip the little nubby and pull the pistons out, then twist your grips slightly so they rest on two of the little tabs that stick out so you can keep the pistons out while you bleed Make sure you don't take the grips off until you've fully bled and reinstalled the bleed screws Yeees, but as said, be very careful. You'd do better to depress the lever so the slaves push out and then grab them, instead of pulling them up. What about using some tensile offset mounts, but reversing them? Or will the slave catch? O by the way, its piston not pistone Nope, the back of the slave hits the mount I'm afraid, no real benefit to be had there. That where you glue an backing onto the back of your current pad? Overbleeding seems like a good suggestion. Or, as said, tensile mounts. Nope, small woodscrews through those little holes in the back of the pad. Could use glue as well though..... Yeh I'd overbleed Il try and glue the back of the pads and then use something underneath the pads to hold them up. Thanks for your help Use something underneath? By very very carefull! The pistons are only plastic and the small pad clip breaks of very easily. I ruined both of my slaves. What he said....they're very brittle and snappy happy.
