Because 24".

With one half-link on it you can check it a lot better, and the rest of your chain being higher quality should help keep it together. Side to side, half-link chains seem to have a load of flex and movement whereas if the half-link in your chain's kept together it should hold up fine.

But yeah, that's what I was trying to tell you about half-link chains before :P

EDIT: Could always try a spoke tensioner to take up a bit of slack if you put in a full link extra, or file your dropouts to allow your wheel to move forwards slightly to make your chain fit without the half-link in?

Yes ok you was right about the shadow chains being s**t and am not really into putting one half link on because if the chain does go it will most likely be on that link, plus my trust and confidence in them has just gone now completely. The dropout idea is probably worth looking at, dont know what the wheelbase would be like then but its worth a try.. Dont really want to run any kind of tensioner not even a spoke, thats the reason i buy frames with hor dropouts to get away from this. Cheers for the help.

Looks good! It shouldn't have taken this long for TGSy 24" frames to come out.

I would like to try a 24inch out some time. The only slight nag is the seeming lack of decent tyres for 24". I'm totally against DMR Moto tyres for one, and not too sure about the Holy Roller 24x2.4 for trials. Didn't Maxxis do a 24x2.5 Swampthing? That would be perfect for me. Now it seems only a 24x2.7 High Roller is offered, did the 24x2.5 Swamps and High Rollers get discontinued or something?

I tried the swampthing on my old marino and it wasnt very grippy not sure if it was 60a compound or not.. The only 'real' tyre thats worth running on a tgs sort of 24 is the high roller but then its quite heavy, i would sacrifice a bit of weight for a good tyre though ;)

yeh i was using high roller at first when i got my inspired but traded it for a holy roller on the rear, grip was still spot on and weighed half what the 2.7 hi roller weighed. ONly thing is holy has mega thin sidewalls and i would get pinchflats all the bloody time...but then again i ran welterweight tubes so its expected. Never pinched the front just rear, so get a thicker tube and ur good. Im lookin at a shwalbe smart sam 2.1 for front and big betty 2.4 for rear on my soon to b built because trials, weight looks good and grippy. Anyone want a high roller 24x2.7 pm me, 60a compound
