Rusevelt
Microsoft's IE8 is currently the most widely used browser worldwide, but has anyone (specifically pc geeks out there) tried the others to compare speeds and ease of use when multi tasking? Ive heard that OPERA browser is ridiculously fast, and there are other browsers that have really neat features/tricks.
JD™
Microsoft's IE8 is currently the most widely used browser worldwide, but has anyone (specifically pc geeks out there) tried the others to compare speeds and ease of use when multi tasking? Ive heard that OPERA browser is ridiculously fast, and there are other browsers that have really neat features/tricks. I use Google Chrome at work and Firefox on OSX at home. Chrome has thrown a couple of wobbly's in the past, but it recovers so nicely that it's never even a problem unless you're watching a video at that time and you have to find where you were. I continue to use it because it is so fast at rendering pages. Firefox is a beast. Maybe if Chrome for Mac was finished I might use that, but it would be hard to pry away from all the great add-ons that Firefox has to make your browsing experience unique and easy. Jonny Jones
I use a browser called Camino - I believe its Mac only. Its based on Firefox and, for some reason, runs way better than Firefox, so I'm happy! I tried Safari, don't like it. Most of the people I know though aren't bothered, they use IE and are happy with it lol
weirdoku
I used to use IE then Firefox now Chrome. Chrome is so fast and has a nice tidy look. Love it.
stephenpoll_41
I've used Safari on pc, IE8, Opra and chrome, but only use firefox now never have a problem with it, dont seem to get on with the rest, be it looks/style or performance. Firefox all the way. Edited March 3, 2010 by stephenpoll_41
anzo
I can assure you that IE is only the most common used browser because it's preinstalled on a new/fresh system and people are gracefully unaware of any other options. My granfolks were complaining of slow loading times on webpages, I went round and installed Firefox. Fast, easy and very user friendly to the basics and advanced. So yea, I'd recommend Firefox over any other web browser - at work we have to use IE as COE standard which is a bit bloody annoying though. Tomm
Safari on my laptop (it's fast) and Firefox on my PC. I would probably use Safari for my PC if I could use mouse gestures with it.

Danny
Development - Firefox Browsing - Chrome As soon as a decent firebug/httpfox alternative is available for chrome ill switch to that for dev too. I doubt IE8 is the most popular browser actually. IE is in general but spanning many versions. All the mac users here at work use the Cromium (chrome beta) builds

Joe Aston
Fire fox at the netbook firefox on the desktop and chrome on the HTPC as it seems to look the best up on the TV. My HP netbook has got a cool little mini OS that loads up before windows and the browser in that is quite cool. I think its call HP instant Web. Iv tried a lot of the new ones, safari on the desktop, didnt get on with that all well, IE i just dont trust. As mentioned by a few others the amout of plugins and add ons for FF is amazing plus you can get loads of skins for it. Thinking about it id forgotten about skins might have to look into skins as i would prefer FF on the HTPC. Not tried Opera might be worth a download. Anyone got anything to say on it? Cheers joe

Rusevelt
Opera 10 is the way to go. No dispute there dude, as i have just started using it (after waiting 50mins to download via T-Mobile wireless connection). Absolutely pisses over IE8 and Firefox 3.6 which i used for a week. Renders pages within a blink of an eye . Opera-10.5 is literally faster than a speeding bullet Ps, (@ approx 23:25) i just tried out the opera turbo mode. oh my god,oh my god,oh my god Edited March 7, 2010 by Rusevelt
