Jake.
I was just wondering if it's a good idea, the Onza Skull has it. I personally have no clue how to route the cable out of the exit hole? Does anybody know? Cheers
Skilled trials
I was just wondering if it's a good idea, the Onza Skull has it. I personally have no clue how to route the cable out of the exit hole? Does anybody know? Cheers Yes you can . Its easy. Just poke it in at top then when it comes near bottom use a pen or summin to route it out. not really hard.
Jake.
Hmm... I might try it, do you recommend doing it or not?
Leistonbmx
It's up to you if you do it or not. People think it looks cleaner. It doesn't weigh less. Well there's 2 holes so it will but not alot.
Jake.
Pah okay then I can't be bothered to drill two holes into my frame, dismantle the brake hose all just to 'look cleaner'
craigjames
Pah okay then I can't be bothered to drill two holes into my frame, dismantle the brake hose all just to 'look cleaner' What other benefits were you expecting? It's not complicated really, ovalise a 6mm hole at either end of the top tube, undo the hose at the lever (don't wave it around or knock it, or you'll lose fluid) feed it through the top tube and do it back up at the lever. You'll need a new olive so allow you to remove the shroud nut but thats it. Job done.
Matt Burrows
It also helps protect the hose. If you do it right you can get a clean run with no sudden bends, this helps keep the hose in the right place and stops it rubbing the frame. I used to end up with loads of damage to my paintwork due to hose rub. It reduces friction if using a cable brake. Plus the minor benefit stated above of looking cleaner, by removing the need for cable guides/ zip-ties/ tape. It takes a bit of time to do first time but I think I'll use it on every bike from now. Oh and I found the easiest way to fit it was to first thread through a brake inner cable with the aid of a magnet. Once this is all the way through you can just push on the outer cable/hose and use the inner wire to guide it through.
