Rumplestiltskin
I'm coming down to Cornwall to study for a year at the Camborne School of Mines just outside of Penryn, and was wondering what the local riding scene is like? Was down for an interview in January and had a scout round Penryn and Falmouth (where I'll most likely be renting a flat for the year), but didn't see much in the way of riding (although we were concentrating more on pubs at the time!). Does anyone live in either of the two, or know of any decent spots around them? I'd imagine there'll be a fair amount of natural along the coastline, but how about street? Also, how is the wider cornwall riding scene? I've noticed a few Plymouth rides posted up here, but what about Exeter etc? Cheers, Strath. Bigman
Pearson is the man to ask... :cough:Are you sure??:cough: Rich does know alot of the spots, mainly the in town ones, There is lots of natural around, some if it is a little further to drive, maybe 45mins, but it is worth it. Penryn and falmouth are lacking in the street side of things, Penzance and truro has some ok street. As for natural, lamorna cove, carn brea, swanpool (only small but good fun), our secret quarry, porthtowan, cligga head (perranporth), St Agnes. There is loads more down west, but it has been a long time since i have ridden down there so i would struggle with directions etc...... Rumplestiltskin
mate i love you! Get yo ass to plymouth some time im studying geology at a-level and seriously planning on going to cambourne school of mines. Will be nice to meet you soon for a ride and a chin wag max I'm Scottish, so A levels don't mean much to me! I take it that means you'll be starting around September/October 2010 for the 3 year undergrad course? Is it mining geology you're going for, or one of the mining/mineral engineering courses? I'm coming down for the mining geology masters. Keen to get stuck in - the facilities at Camborne were amazing when I saw them in January, but a bit apprahensive about getting thrown straight in at the deep end. I've done nothing mining or geotechnically related so far! Don't know if I'll be down Plymouth way before October, but I'll prob get to Camborne and move in around late September, so let me know if you do go and we can get a ride and some pints in! :cough:Are you sure??:cough: Rich does know alot of the spots, mainly the in town ones, There is lots of natural around, some if it is a little further to drive, maybe 45mins, but it is worth it. Adam Cool, had a wee browse round some of those areas on the internet and they look like great fun. Not doing much natural where I am at the moment, so a change from street'll be nice. Thanks for the reply come ride with the plymouth lot Yeh, sure will. I'm looking forward to travelling round the south in general. Haven't really been able to make many trips down from Scotland because it's such a mission! Well i live in cornwall and there are loadsplaces to ride, just need to know the place. Rich Pearson
Hey buddy, good choice on coming down to study in Cornwall, you won't regret it As a few people have said I've been down here for a few years now living in Penryn (although I am considering making the move to Falmouth fairly soon). I could write enormous amounts about the riding down here, but put simply; if you drive and have a car, you won't get bored. If you don't, there is still plenty to ride if you know where to look. There isn't a massive amount of riders down this way, but myself and Dan still try and get out 2-3 times a week either around falmouth or a bit further afield, and there are other riders around like Kieran and Matt. In terms of the riding itself -> Apart from the stuff on cotton reels and skips, and maybe 2/3 shots of Bristol, all of that video was shot within 15-20miles of where I live in Penryn And theres a lot more around. On a side note; I hope you like to drink. The CSM boys are f**king nuts for it Add me on facebook or summat and give us a shout when you're down and we'll go for a ride/pint Rich
Sprog!
Plymouth and Looe are good places to ride There is a new skatepark in Truro which is really good and Truro itself is good aswell. Sprog(Y)

I'll definitely hit you up on Facebook when I arrive and you can show me round. I'm slowly building up my alcohol tolerance in preparation for the CSM experience. I've a couple of mates on the course this year, and I've heard some pretty mad stories about what they get up to. Most of them involve the police at some point in the night Plymouth and Looe are good places to ride There is a new skatepark in Truro which is really good and Truro itself is good aswell. Sprog(Y) Sweet, I'll try and take a look
