matthew_coggan
At the moment I am using Onza Hogniesium pedals they tend to creak alot ( everytime i pedal ). The Pedals are about a year old and are in ok condition with a few scratches, they feel smoth and comfortable but the creaking is realy annoying Does this mean i need new pedals? Or is there something i can do to the Pedals to stop them creaking.
WIGAN
erm how much use have they had??, if ther a year old and are used like evryday probably best to get new ones yeah but anyway, take them off and greese the threads up then put them back on if that dont stop it its probably your cranks or bb just take the whole drivetrain off and give it a good clean and grese it up should be fine
LordMersey
Sounds like you need some new lube in them.
Matthew62
No it doesn't as you would never lube pedals. You need to grease the bearings.
craigjames
No it doesn't as you would never lube pedals. You need to grease the bearings. Lube- lubrication. As far as i know grease is a form of lubrication. Shut up.
Matthew62
shows what you know then. put it in context if you tell someone to lube there bike what do you think they,ll use...... normal lube or would they think grease? Exactly so f**k off.com
Alex Dark
If someone said lube pedals, I'd personally think grease the bearings.... Anyway, pedals off...wire brush the threads, grease and re-install. Are the pedals loose? If so tighten the internal bearings with a 6mm allen key and 12?mm socket. They are cartridge bearings though...so if the bearings are shot it would be a replace job most likely. Pedals aren't the most liekly thing to creak so if your bike is still noisy after you've done the above, swap them out for some good pedals....probably your BB I reckon or possibly loose cranks ( in that case grease the bb shell, clean the threads.....remove cranks, clean splines/tapers and lube if ISIS drive ) . Cheeeeers

Matthew62
Yeah i understand that completely, which is why i said put it in context. IF someone is asking the question you can assume they don't know an awful lot about bike maintenance so you have to be specific in what you are saying, as they might take it literally. A beginner/new member may not know that pedals should use grease, where a chain should use lube, thats why you explain it to them. I've personally never heard anyone say ''i'm off to lube my bearings, nor have i heard anyone say they're going to grease their chain. Be specific and helpful as that will benefit the topic starter most. Also, mouthy......maybe or it might just be that i'm intolerant to a lot of the constant ignorance i come across, but little....... how old are you again? Intolerance maybe, but there's a constant stream of "intolerance" in your posts. Personally i can't stand how inept people are with bike maintenance and care, how people put things together terrifies me! Little had nothing to do with your age or size, that would be discriminatory. I'm 24.

jordan allsop
If i was you i would take the pedals and grease the bearings also make sure the pedals or tight or else it could be the bottom bracket, and if this doesn't work then if i was you i would get some new pedals and i would recommend dmr v8, hope this helps
