Ollied
Im not a heavy rider at all and my back end feels a bit too heavy really. Just wondering how this is done so i can have a shot at it, Cheers, Ollid
N.Wood
Take wheel out, take tyre and tube off, get grinder out, grind out inner wall. Thats the basics of it, are there any specifics you want? Ask if there are
Ollied
Won't there be an edge to it on the side walls?? like that will pop tube
N.Wood
If you grind it flush there won't be - Take your time, finish it off with a file if its a bit rough.
Ollied
Sorry to be annoying, how do you file it, if there is a lip where the tyre goes over..
N.Wood
Bit fiddly and time consuming, but you can get the file in horizontally resting on the lip you want to file (below the tyre bead lip) and file down till its gone, then move round and carry on. Best to get as much out with the grinder as you can.

gu trials
to be fair it would be possibly easier to buy a new rim, and then keep the current one for spare
ogre
i'll take it to engineers and see if they can cnc it out. it'd be cheaper to buy a single wall rim...
Alex Dark
Grinder...file...done. Did mine in 3/4 hour. Silly idea using a CNC mill for it though, would take you forever and cost you easily twice the price of a rim i reckons.
Matt Vandart
Dude this is a real pain in the arse, just get a single wall rim.
trialsmax04
small thread hijack, but does anyone know how much weight this roughly saves? Toying with the idea myself as i have a spare rim here if it went tits up, just be interesting to see how long one would hold up on the back. I estimated it saved around 90g?
Borat
My front echo urban took 20mins max, with filling and everything and it's a tidy job, too.
