M.a.d Bikes Any Good?

the geo on them is terrible for tgs style trials, but if your more into bunnyhops etc go ahead

I'd disagree with that! The Phase frames certainly not as long as some, but that doesn't make them terrible for it - just a more kick-ass compromise. Mine gets ridden in demos, competitions, street rides, skate parks, even on the trails! :P

You really can't get better for the money.

Here's a few clips of me on mine:

I'm now on my 3rd, but ride them bloody hard! They've lasted well over 6 months a piece, which is actually longer than any of my previous frames (Adamant A1, Echo Pure 2004, Fresh Products, IOLO, Echo Contro 05 + 06, etc etc)

Enjoy it, it's MAD.

When it's being ridden like that you can't really say it's crap for tgs, if anything it favours that more than proper street riding, just because it's not a stretch limo doesn't mean it's gonna bunnyhop nicely, it's still a modern frame with a decent height bb and a pretty steep head angle, all aimed at back wheel moves. My only experience is of the old old white ones, so link us to the bike in question.

edit = Just read you put it's a phase which is a pretty modern one, don't be put off by the reputation of the old ones, they're nothing alike, they're decent frames for pennies.

If you're buying just a frame, then the 1.3 (blue) has vee mounts, the 1.2 & 1.1 4-bolt. Other than that it's just colour.

For the full bike - definitely pick up the 1.2 (red one), get some decent brake pads, a decent rear hub, and ditch the gears, and it'll be a sick bike.

Just because they are cheap, doesnt mean they are crap.

Ive been riding them for over a year now, and love it.

The geomatry is great for learning on, and a well set up bike can take you as far as you car to go.

As said the frames are all the same, except the 1.3 has V brake mounts.

The rear Hubs arent great, because they are just standard MTB hubs.

If your just starting out then it will be fine, but once you get your skills up you will want something stronger, and with better engagement.
