LEON
I know they're bad for high stress areas, are m6 alloy bolts suitable hold a v or a magura to v brake bosses? I'm not sure how much of a stress area it is. I have some left over and I'll use them if they're safe but I wanna know how safe I am, i go big, I weigh alot, and i have snatchy, tar influenced brakes. Ta. Ali C
I did for quite a long time, but I now use steel just to make sure (I would use ti though if I had bolts long enough)
LEON
They're just for the looks, they're 35mm so they go right to the back of the bosses, might even have to file a mm or 2 off. But you reckon they'll be ok yea?
Matt Vandart
I would say they would be ok, as you said the stresses go mostly through the bosses.
Brisa
A mate of mine ran them on a crown mounted stem on his downhill bike and they all busted off in spectecular fashion. I wouldn't use them anywhere I thats responsable for keeping me on the bike.
LEON
Yea I'd never use them on bar/stem/crank stuff, I'm undecided on brake bolts but they look so good!
Shaun H
I'm undecided on this. I think it depends on your bosses and calipers. If the calipers sit fairly proud of the bosses then there may be a fair bit of force on the bolt heads however from memory I don't think this is usually the case. LEON
They're pretty flush yea, the xtr v is probably 1 or 1.5mm infront of the boss at most, magura on the rear is about the same.

In that case they'll probably only have to stand up to the reactional force of the brake which will be axial to the bolt anyway. I'd give it a go, if it breaks, you still have another brake on the back/front
Ben John-Hynes
Yea I'd never use them on bar/stem/crank stuff, I'm undecided on brake bolts but they look so good! I had an alloy bolt acting as a magura bleed screw. The head came off it, so the shaft(?) was stuck in the slave. And that was a bolt I hardly ever touched. I've never trust them again. Ben John-Hynes
(the m6 one filling the syringe hole?) Yeah that's the one. Was a right bugger to get out after it broke!
