Rob/Mitch
Is it easy to do? Or best left to the pro's? How much to Hope normally charge for a rebuild on the caliper?

Matt Burrows
Considering how many people f**k it up, or moan about there brakes not working and not understanding why, I'd say it can be hard. Certainly one of the most complicated bits of maintainence you can do. In principle its very simple, but it takes experience to be able to diagnose and fix all possible faults. Having a helper who has done it before is definitely recommended, ideally actually with you and not just on the net. Hope charge around £40 for a full service. Muel
It's pretty much the mose complicated thing to do on a trials bike besides building wheels, but I've never struggled with it. It's just down to how careful you are really, clean everything properly, polish the pistons, replace all the seals and don't get oil everywhere. Rob/Mitch
Thanks for the replys. I'm by no means a retard when it comes to mechanics etc, I just wondered if it was straight forward enough to get stuck into without specialist tools etc. I cant seem to find a "How to" guide, I've checked the Hope site but didnt find anything. Alex Dark
Just a bore tool...which you can make, or just use an isis BB axle if you're pikey Isa is unnecessary if you're not a tool and don't get dot fluid everywhere.
Muel
You can make a bore cap tool out of a piece of steel 3mm thick, just file the corners round and take them down until it just fits into the bore cap across two opposite indents.
