Mission Prodigy Trials.
Hey, my 2008 Magura BAT rear disk brakes are starting to lose power and often slips so I am wondering if anybody could help me find the cause. What are the best ways to stop disk brakes slipping .? * New pads * Clean rotor * Unaligned mounts * Loose disk rotor Has anybody got a diagnosis from personal experience with rear disk brakes . Cheers.
Stevie
I've offered you advice almost every single time you come riding with us but for some reason you refuse to believe me. I completely covered my disc in DOT before basically ruined it but still managed to get it working again. It really doesn't help that you keep putting some random solutions on them everyday, the discs are designed to work as they are. Your mounts ARE aligned, and your disc isn't loose. You're not helping your pads by putting different stuff on them, the best thing you could do is soak the pads and disc in some soapy water for a while, put them back on and drag them for a little put water on them and drag them again etc etc until they start to feel better. JKH
Use a strong detergent to clean the pads and rotor, then break in by riding around and putting water on the rotor. Having said that, the Louise brake isn't good to use for the rear. The power is good but the caliper is not strong enough. I broke two calipers and a host of adaptors in less than a month. I have settled on using the Avid BB7, as the caliper and avid adaptors are much stronger. I have 6 months on this setup and it hasn't ever let me down.
