l33th3tr33
as the title says, my pedals are indeed, stuck. Wd40, brute force not working. And yes I'm turning them the right way. Please help, I don't like it when brute force doesn't work.
Skoze
Get a bigger spanner and twat it with a hammer. Shock they asses off. Wait, you are turning them the right way, yes?
Mark W
You need to shock them loose, not 'brute force' them loose. And what is the 'right way' just so we know you're doing it right
l33th3tr33
as the title says, my pedals are indeed, stuck. Wd40, brute force not working. And yes I'm turning them the right way. Please help, I don't like it when brute force doesn't work. I'm using a big spanner, and levering with a big spanner. EDIT: I'm turning them clockwise Edited January 20, 2010 by l33th3tr33
Mark W
Yeah, but just confirm which way you're actually turning them... I'll make it easy: 1. Right side: Regular. Left side: Opposite. 2. Right side: Opposite. Left side: Regular. 3. Right side: Regular. Left side: Regular. Simply option 1, 2, or 3.
l33th3tr33
left side clockwise, I'm not trying the other side unless this one will come off. (I'm stubborn) left side is off, same direction for drive side yes? (clockwise)
Mark W
If you're looking at your bike from the left side, then yeah, you need to turn it clockwise a.k.a. towards the rear of your bike, over the top of the crank arm. Right side is regular thread, so you turn that anti-clockwise.
Dan6061
Easiest way to remember it: When fitting, pedal backwards. When removing, pedal forwards.
Tony Harrison
If in doubt, take off the crank arm, put a spanner on the pedal, arrange it so that the pedal/spanner interface is raised above the ground, and then stamp - hard. Mark W
Easiest way to remember it: When fitting, pedal backwards. When removing, pedal forwards. Yep, either that or the thumbs up trick to remember which way to turn them. And Ian - that's what I was going to suggest before, but I couldn't think of how to word it. Pyramid system's pretty dece though.
AdamR28
left side is off, same direction for drive side yes? (clockwise) Nah, they are opposite threads...
