trials jack
hello i have some blue rockpads on a smooth rim and it is not working the best, does anyone have any ideas of what i could use on my back rim that is smooth. Would it be better for me to rim grind the back rim and stick with the pads or get some new pads. Thanks.
chris4stars
snap! im pretty sure im using rockman blues (they are blue and came with a recent fourplay from tarty) and im using them with the white trialtech rims ungrinded only a few days ago i considered a grind, and after looking at tartys site and the pad reviews here...i think thats what the pads seemed to be designed for?! im not sure if thats what rockman had in mind when coming up with them or its tartys experience and recommendation copied from tarty: "Top secret compound offers the best performance in both dry and wet conditions (as long as they are used with a grind)! Recommended Use Blue: Sharp light grind for dry weather, sharp slightly deeper grind for wet weather Green: Smooth rim. really hope there is quite a difference though...only yesterday when trying for the first time to lock the wheel with two fingers (using one finger all the time is normal- right?) did i realise quite how much the brake was slipping! (as a result the hub was engaging..crank was turning, and made 'rocking' inparticular a nightmare - im looking forward to another leap in confidence!) cornwall15
hi you should give your rear wheel a grind because it will add better bite and hold to your brake 'rockman blue pads are for a light-meduim grind hope this helps and good luck. chris4stars
use a little tar but dont grind keep ur rim smooth tht shud make it better. ah...you should perhaps tell tartybikes, and every other person whos written a pad review for the roackman blues who ALL say it is better with a grind... (the guys reviewing are only experienced and probably the most knowledgable up and down the country - what do they know ) for what was a sensible topic and question...they are some shocking replies guys Edited January 17, 2010 by chris4stars
