What feels wrong on the bike at the moment? Is the front end too high or too low, are you stretching or cramped? Buy what will sort that out. In answer to your question they will make a difference what the difference is compared to the set up you have on there at the moment i don't know.

It looks a little bit long?

Whats better a long or short stem? (on mod)

EDIT: How about trial tech sport? Its shorter and lighter.

EDIT2: what top cap would i need for Trial-Tech Sport/Race stem?

I got it and its really nice. Not too long, running with onza carbons. Thought there wasnt much point spending and extra £5 just for something lighter and slightly shorter. You would need your standard top cap.

whatever geo you choose they'll be lighter than the chromoly gear your running now, and in my experience stronger :D

Sweet thanks,

I'm not sure ill go down and check later, and edit this post accordingly.

trial-tech sport stem says its grade 2014 aluminum and race stem says grace 6061 aluminum can someone please explain the grade of aluminum to me? Is it the higher the grade the stronger the aluminum?

EDIT: try-all doesn't say a grade of aluminum dose that mean its week? or a weeker.. stem?

Standard one? The one off my onza stem?

I doubt a poll on TF will change his mind about you spending £180 on bike parts,,,

It has done before.. Its about 115 with sport stem 110 with race.

Dont forget you need to spend £15 on a top cap with the try-all.

Point.. I probbs wont get that one then.. cheers for reminding me.

Where/ How do u measure the start to end of the stem from?

I think I'm going for race stem! My stem at the moment is 185mm (:o) and race is 165mm its also a higher grade of aluminium (6061) and there for stronger (than my stem that i have a the moment am i correct?)

And the riser bars are also stronger then my ones i have at the moment there made from 7075 aluminium but still weigh less ^_^

Laurence.

PS. sorry for the small pointless essay :P

EDIT: am i right about the grades of aluminum the higher the number the stronger the aluminum

Best post on here.

Bar and stem advice is kinda hard to give outside the realm of preference. Like the post above, you gotta try and narrow down what's wrong with the cockpit. Sometimes, there's nothing wrong, and you just want a new bar and stem, and figure, you may as well see how a different set-up feels (no need in buying the same set-up only lighter unless you REALLY like it and have tried a bunch of other things.).

I played around with a bunch of different stems and bars and found each had thier own thing goin for them. What feels cramped to you may feel AWESOME for other people. or what feels too high may feel not high enough or just right.

Best advice is, you just mess around with them. I found that bar and stem on a trials bike is like the saddle on a road bike. Play around with a couple, cause one may feel great, but you'll try the next and could feel 10x times better, or worse.

At the moment I've got standard Onza t-pro bars (flat) and stem and i wanted to know if they will make that much difference when riding?

Now looking back at the Onza Rip bars I used- I now hate them. I have long riser bars and I'll never look back- so much more control and feel better too (but that's my opinion)! And stems- that's just your choice; nobody else can decide for you.
