Its not a yes, you don't have to a flat one will work but it leaves small indents in the stem, I know as i did this.

A flat one will work but unless your really strapped for cash by the sloped one.

In this case, how will you make the bolt go straight down??

you ether have to bend the bolt or the hole for that bolt.

As i just said, you mount both straight the tightening of the bolt forces the topcap into the stem and makes a flat spot, not the best idea I know but it does work.

I have a Tyy-all stem which requires a similar sloped cap. Instead, I just took a carbon stem spacer I had laying around and ran an angle grinder on it. Now I just use a regular old standard cap.....its a cheap, quick alternative if you have old spacers laying around.. I hope that makes sense?
