Mark W
Mark, do me a favour if you don't mind bud, could you measure from the BB center to the top center of the headtube for me? The WB, is it 1020mm on your bike? I'm thinking a the wee bit longer chainstay on this frame would suit me down to the ground. I'm liking the look of this frame more and more, was tempted when I got my skull. Do you mean the Lynx? Assuming you do, it's 620mm. Had to pick enough of 'em to know the reach pretty well The WB is about 1025mm on mine, with SL forks Adam's was 1035 or something like that. Without a half-link you can't really get a 'wee bit longer' on the stays unless you put a full link in and try and make it 375mm like the new CLS/old Python frames or something. 362mm (where it is now) feels like a good compromise between being short enough to make it nice on the back wheel, but long enough to have a bit of leverage for doing gaps and ups. Not got a comedy high BB either so it's a pretty good setup The WTP frame is a late '08, I think....

This frame was my second choice when I got my skull and I'm beginning to think I made the incorrect decision. Am I correct in thinking that a longer CS means better on two wheel stuff like surges and shit, general two wheel stability? My Skull pops the front wheel up loverly and sits on the back wheel really nicely but when I go to surge between objects it feels way to "flippy" if you get my meaning. Seeing as I like riding natural bestest, where I mostly use two wheel stuff do you think that would work out better for me? Also why is it harder to tap a mod? On a stock I used to just basically ride into the obstacle but on a mod I find I am having to sorta do a pedal up and hit the front wheel on the way up for a bit of extra boostage, I'm only getting up about 5/6 pallets and seem to be stuck at that. Mark W
Yeah, that feeling of being 'flippy' is precisely why I don't really like frames with CS under 360mm. Everyone goes on about how nice they are on the back wheel, but I don't really base my decisions on what frame to ride by how easy they are to backhop. You can backhop a full sus DH bike if you want - it's not really the defining feature of a frame. I prefer longer stays just because you can boot it a bit more when you're doing power moves like gaps, rather than having to jump your body higher and go completely sideways like most people seem to when they're gapping on high BB/short CS mods. Same for pedal ups and taps too, you can really power into them with a longer CS rather than a shorter one. Speaking of - the reason stocks are nicer is because you can get behind them and ram them into stuff 'cos they're that bit longer, but with mods you can't really push them into stuff too hard. The good thing about mods though is that 'cos they're smaller, you can just do pedal ups or bunnyhop ups to backwheel more easily than a stock so you shouldn't really need to tap them. Definitely like the feel of my frame for natural too, it's just a lot more stable in general, and with the lower BB your centre of gravity's a bit lower and weight not quite so far over the front so if you're rolling over rough ground you're less likely to get pitched over the bars. Laurence--Trials
How come you haven't got any "ZOO!" stickers on the lynx? or don't they come with them anymore?

eskimo
For a long, the mod is real nice. The stem some how, doesn't look out of place at all. I'd have it for sure. The 24" is very meh. Seen to many white ones to take any shine to it. The Hawk is nice (and nicer) than the WTP purely due to the extra height. Not a fan of the bars, but i'll let it go
Mark W
Most of them didn't work, rehosted them. And yeah, the Fit feels a better fit, no pun intended!

Ollie Histon
Are they 20inch forks on the urban? only it doesn't look like you could fit a 26inch wheel in there. Or am i stoooooopid? edit. Yeah probably stupid, but it still doesnt look like you could fit a 26 in there if need be? Mark W
Yeah, it's a set of forks that were on my Atomz that I think were messed up or something - could just about fit a Maxxis High Roller 2.1" in there, but it was really, really tight and it'd rub if I buckled my wheel at all. Simpson
Are you starting to feel as though on the 24 you can do everything BUT nothing. If you want to ride trials you take the mod, and if you want to do streety street you take the BMX? Thats why the 24" wore off for me. Mark W
I haven't ridden my mod for... 2 months, I think, if that answers your question? My 24's set up kinda differently to most though I guess, so I don't really ride it how most people I've seen in videos here ride it. I use it to fill the gap (THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID) between the more TGSy trials stuff and the more tech BMX stuff, so kinda doing a mixture of both on stuff you might not use either on, if that makes sense? Yea, I didn't ride it like most people as well though I suppose... I don't know. I just found it impossible to "throw" compared with my bmx, I don't know a more technical way I can describe it. But I'm surprised by what you've said I suppose, however when I had mod / 24 / bmx when my 24" was new I only rode that so sold the other 2... maybe in time you will find the same... or were just different... "Vids or gtfo" I suppose.
Mark W
Never realised you were from BG. Such a bunch of wanna be engineers on there. Yep, I generally don't post much on there apart from in a few select threads, kinda sucks when you have to deal with a lot of people on there. People who are that anal about chainline on a BMX really need to move over to road bikes where that kind of retentiveness is greeted with open arms... Yea, I didn't ride it like most people as well though I suppose... I don't know. I just found it impossible to "throw" compared with my bmx, Super short stem, high rise bars - BMXy setup for a BMXy feel. Can ride it sort of like my BMX in a way, can do manny-180s on it and stuff like that. It's definitely not as good as my BMX for that kinda stuff, but it's a fun stop-gap when I know we're going places that aren't really awesome for BMX.
