Nothing stopping you using mountain bike cranks although it does limit you on chainring choice, the smallest ring you can fit onto a 5 bolt spider is 20t; not really a problem as such but the trend is now for smaller spcrockets to save weight. pogo Posted January 14, 2010 Report Share Posted January 14, 2010 I run 165mm cranks on my 26, just means the gearing is slightly higher than it should be for 22:18, great for rolling moves but it is difficult to do anything from static.
