Shaun H
Ah right and that's your problem why now? It's not my problem it's just some advice.
Simpson
Regarding the justification of frames/bikes like that, why not? Some people really like bikes, so if they want to spend money and tinker with their bikes/tweak them/try out new stuff, why not? Same as people who are into cars buying different cars, modding them, tweaking them, and so on. It's a pretty normal thing to do, so why not? Even if it's "Daddy's money" to quote someone up there, what does that really matter? I was meerly pointing out that in the topic title (before he edited it) "expensive bikes" like he feels by spending all this money he's getting a bike which justifes the price tag, when the fact of the matter is that those "types" of bikes generally tend to have a much shorter lifespan than a cheaper deng (or similar). And to me personally it being "daddys money" does matter, because so many people are taking for granted the fact that there parents will spend £1k+ on a bike that there riding ability doesn't justify a bike which is that price. (I mean for elite riders that gram saved for ££ may be worth it, but for the average rider, someone starting out blah, its not nesseccary.) Alan its your money... you can spend it however you want, but when its someone elses money its totally different IMO, but thats just it really isn't it it is IMO and i guess I should sometimes keep out of these topics but I find it fustrating if you get me, the kid already has a Onza Blade and a ZHI Z2 according to his profile why does he need more? I'll stay out of this from now so people can leave constructive advise. My constructive advise would be don't buy a Koxx "light" frame 2nd hand off of anyone unless you know them very well. Its not a case of "being a basher" majorly, a bike could look totally spotless on the outside but had 1000+ hours worth of riding done on it, all of which will take a toll on the frame. Mark W
Because it's a better use of money and if the kids are smart enough to realise and not spoilt little brats (I know rich families of both sorts) then they'll appreciate it alot more in the end. Quite impressive how you're able to judge this person's character from a thread on a forum. Quite impressive indeed... Simps - regarding it being someone else's money, I still don't really get why it's a problem. If he wants a really good bike (which the Koxx range generally are, even if they're not necessarily the longest lasting), and his parents are happy enough to help him out and support him, I just don't really see the issue there. You could argue that there's a cheaper alternative for everything, but that doesn't mean you have to take it, especially if the person financing it doesn't really want to as such. Shaun H
Quite impressive how you're able to judge this person's character from a thread on a forum. Quite impressive indeed... I'm sorry? I wasn't even paying attention to who it was people were talking about but it was hinted that someone may be fortunate enough to have parents willing to spend a lot of money on them as a gift. It was just my general thoughts on the matter. Also, with regards to your counter arguement to Simps, I don't think we're just talking about cheaper bikes but bikes that are better suited than the more expensive alternative.
