robotrhys
Hi all, Currently rocking a pair of echo smooth cams which came with my echo 7075 screw on hub but experiencing some major slippage. Which cams would you recommend to keep your wheel in position for more than 5 minutes?! Cheers. Rhys p.s been a member since 2005 and still not validated! +1 me peeps! Scooter916
I would look for some notched cams, rockman, bionic, etc or you can try clamp both of yours together and using a dremel or bench grinder and cut in some notches, clamping them together will ensure the notches are even and you wheel will move back evenly monty http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?pr...category_id=114 try-all http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?pr...category_id=114 BTW I was going to give you a validation vote but in 6 out of 9 of your posts you have begged for a vote. try not being too desperate and just provide knowledgeable replies and good info and I'm sure you will get votes Edited January 2, 2010 by Scooter916
robotrhys
Yeah, the smoothness allows for finer adjustment but i think the notched ones will provide adequate adjustment without any slip. A friend of mine recommended ZHI's.. So which are best?
Scooter916
if you only need cams, go through Tarty for the two options I linked to. they both look good but if you want to add some color the Monty come in red if you need other parts, check out biketrialseller.com for some killer deals, they have ZHI and Bionic cams for cheap but shipping will cost more than the cams, enough parts and it isn't too bad

The thread is still young though, I still welcome more reviews!
Scooter916
I'm pretty sure all the toothed snail cams work the same, I can't see one brand being better than another, they are just alloy cams with teeth. they're not hubs or cranks so performance isn't going to change too much

I thought the teeth might be more effective on some models than others..
Scooter916
it seems to come down to weight and construction method, the Monty look like stamped alloy or a very rough CNC process, where as the Try All have much more intricate CNC work, which takes more time and more time=more money
JT!
I don't understand why, but I've used rouned ones and toothed ones and the rouned ones slipped and the toothed ones are pretty much like having vertical dropouts, rock solid. They shouldn't slip but they do. Anyway, the toothed ones still have very fine asjutemnt from tooth to tooth so that's not a problem, also you get a consistent wheel alignment unlike the rounded ones which is great as you don't have to re-setup your brakes. All the cams are pretty much the same, i bought the Monty ones as they're were the cheapest, but don't forget the Monty bolts that come with the cams are a different size to the rest, but i guess you already have bolts so that shouldn't be a problem. Jake.
Try-all ones are good, my friend has them on his adamant and even with the teeth worn out they dont slip and they work well!
janjan
I would buy those: http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?pr...category_id=114 They are made of steel and should last much longer as the aluminum ones. Before you buy those, check if the axle diameter is correct.

JT!
I've used the freshproducts cams and the monty cams and they both worked perfectly. I think any toothed cam would do the same amazing job. Chain tension is the same all the time, no slipping issues, good range of movement. Before you buy those, check if the axle diameter is correct. This dude knows where it's at! We're pretty much all running the TR cams. I found with fully notched cams I needed an inbetween notch to get my wheel perfect, and you get that with the TRs. They're really, really nice to use. Feel like you're tensioning up a smooth cam, but they lock in really well. Can't recommend them highly enough!
