janjan
I have a complete 28" bike which I use daily as a commuter. Since the frame is way too big for me I'm thinking about buying a new (custom) frame for the spring/summer.Just riding the same route everyday gets pretty boring after a while, so:Does somebody have an idea what might be a good geometry for the occasional bunny hop / manual / wheelie? The geometry of the current frame is:Wheelbase: 1066Chainstay: 440 mmBB: -65mmRight now it's more or less impossible for me to lift the front wheel of the ground (very likely due to the low BB). Might a higher BB help?(Yes, I know, it's probably a very stupid idea...)
Borgschulze
It's the Chainstay length most likely...Try a shorter stem and higher riser bars.

It's just a matter of how far/much back you have to lean to over come the long stays and lower BB. My buddy can bunny barspin a beach cruiser. Alot of those things factor in, so if you're getting acustom frame, and want to bunny/manual, don't go anywhere near the geometry of the bike you're on now. Also, 28 inch? The wheels? There's no such thing. 700c, 27" or 29"(which is 700c, just fatter tires). In any case, all of those suck for anything other than keeping both tires on the ground and pedaling to where you need to go.
Borgschulze
28" Does exist. Although I have never seen them before. http://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/tires/635.html

janjan
Also, 28 inch? The wheels? There's no such thing. There is, at least kind of. I just found out that for some reason the 700c are called 28" in Germany (where I live) see: http://sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html "28 x decimal | 622 mm | Some German tire companies use this non-standard designation for 622 mm ("700c") tires." You can manual or bunny ANY bike. It's just a matter of how far/much back you have to lean to over come the long stays and lower BB. My buddy can bunny barspin a beach cruiser. Yeah, after trying to manual / bunny hop for 10 km on the way home it seems that I finally get the hang of it. In contrast to my initial post it seems tht right now the biggest problem is not really the chainstay/BB stuff, but the height of the frame. Because it's so tall compared to my other bikes I can not make the same movements, so I guess a smaller frame would also help.
JT!
The real question is why do you want to turn a commuter bike into anything else?
janjan
Because I get bored by just commuting On my daily route to work there are a lot of benches, stairs and other stuff I could you to have some fun while riding to/from work. The other option would be to build up a cheap 26" dirt/street bike, but because of the missing lights and reflectors and shit i would be in constant trouble with the local police
JT!
I'd stay away from trying to change your 28" wheeled bike and maybe get a new 26" one. I personally didn't think 28" bikes existed so your choice of frames and stuff would be next to nothing.
rupintart
Just do like you thought, build up a 26" street/dirt bike and just raise up the post for the times when you don't feel like doing tricks and just want to commute/pedal. Something like a Giant STP, Mob, etc.
