No Bite In Rear Vee!

Hey guys!

My rear sd7 on my python has no bite basicly, I am fully aware that vee has less bite and more hold that magura.

But I have tried both my rock blues and tnn lgms on the rear vee with grind and smooth rim. None of them have worked particuly well (hold and bite).

I also need a new cable (even though mine isnt a week old yet) becuse the clarks cable is just rediculously flexy.

So could anyone give me some tips.

Despite the flexy outer cable you've choosen, there are only a few things that could be making your brake this crap:

- too light of a grind

- lack of a booster

- your setting up skills of a vee brake (probaly this one, as it sounds like your fairly new to using vee brakes)

I had this with my SD7, but it went away a bit when I switched down to some crappy old Promax arms.

I guess you don't wanna do that though.

Make sure your pads are dead square, horizontally, and bear in mind they'll likely need a bit of time to wear down to the right angle to hit flat (vees don't push square, unless you have one of those parallel-push ones... which the SD7 is not :P).

Set the springs to the lowest tention possible, but so that they still pull the arms back out quick enough. If it's easier to pull, you'll pull it harder, which might mean more bite.

As for the cable - many would scoff - but I have yet to find a better cable than a Wilko's £1.70 jobby.
