l33th3tr33 Posted December 27, 2009 Report Share Posted December 27, 2009 (edited) Hey guys, I've got an old bike with a crank arm that has the chainring attached with what i can only describe as a washer with nobbles or a miniature chainring looking thing.I've not changed chainrings before so i need some help.Does anyone know how I can get the chainring off? trials_pimp Posted December 27, 2009 Report Share Posted December 27, 2009 Sounds to me like they dont come off.Some cheap cranks have the chain rings held on with a lock ring thats pressed on then crushed.This means when the rings are dead you buy new cranks. HargrovesToby Posted December 28, 2009 Report Share Posted December 28, 2009 if its what im thinking of, you may need to either file or angle grind the heads off to get the chainring off, it does mean you won't be able yto fit another ring though, but if thats what you want to do. There is no way of getting them off That's the one, its sheared off now anyway so I've got some new cranks and chain ring. Thanks a lot for the help though.
