multi tasking male
i have been looking at rear huubs nd have noticed that there are two differences. What the difference between a fixed hub and free hub ?what the difference in a 116mm hub or a 135mm hub ? what hub would you use on a single speed 24' ? mtnbikerfred
1) A "fixed hub" is for running s front freewheel with a "fixed cog" and lockring on the hub.2) A "freehub" is splined to run (one or more) "cassette style cogs" and has an internal freewheel3) 116mm and 135mm are the distance between the dropouts. IMHO wider is better, mainly because wider flanges on single speed freehubs mean stronger wheels.4) It depends what is available on the frame you like, which will ultimately be better for YOU (even though all your jealous friends will tell you it sucks)Cheers Edited December 22, 2009 by mtnbikerfred
Alex Dark
For a 24, I'd run a king or echo sl freewheel with an echo tr hub. You'll need a 135mm hub for sure though.
chronic
Alex, have you run that freewheel? A friend of mine has one, it seems dodgy. It skipped alot at the start, and after a rebuild it still skips. Just wondering if you have had luck.
