ogre
My bike is far to heavy! and so am I where am i going wrong at keeping the weight down (on the bike) i'm open to all suggestions of going lighter, but i don't want to compromise on strength massively (i'm 108kgs )Bold stuff is not changingFull Spec:Frame: Simtra (changing to a speedrace in the new year)Fork: echo Urban vee/discHeadset: KingBB: Truvativ Gigapipe this-unDrive:Cranks: middleburns, cloud9 bashPedals: V8sTensioner: tryall rohloff copychain: trialtech liteWheels:rearPro2echo urban rim (thinking about single walling it, how much weight will i loose?) or would it be better to save time and run something lighter?maxxis minion 2.35 dual plyDH tube (possibly overkill with a dua ply tyre?)frontpro2tryall rim (f**ked so this needs replacing soon, will go for a tryall h0le rim, or trialtech square holed)Specialised eskar tyre (probably go for a continental 2.2)Braking:sd7 leverssd7 rear veebb7 front disc (185mm) changing to a vee when it's dry thoughheatsink yellowsZOO! bars, ZOO! mod stem (i'm prety big and it rides nice, sucky for wheel swaps though )suggestions please! nothing that'll compromise strength to much, or rape my wallet i'm not much of a go-big rider but i'm heavy enough to test bits Edited December 17, 2009 by ogre
davey1991
Forks anything lighter.Tyres, go continental both ends.Tubes get some maxxis super light tubes, they wont pinch as much as you think. It does look as all your weight is in your tyres. The front rim may also help, you could concider a matching rear. ogre
urbans are the lightest forks i'll ride; there only 100g more than Echo SL forks, the 6th lightest tarty sell and the price/weight/strength seems right (plus i only bought them a month ago)will a 2.4 protection mountain king fit a simtra ok? MiuSliS
I'd say change bb, giga pipes are heavy. Definitely tyres, also get rid of the echo urban rim (even if you switch to try-all double wall, it still weighs ~100g less, not even talking about single wall rims,so it's worth after all). I'd also say zoo parts are heavy, change bars at least (in my opion zoo bars are rubbish anyway). There are many areas where to can reduce weight of the bike, but that usually comes with high price. Good luck.

Ben John-Hynes
Just wait until you get your frame sorted 1st before you start spending. The difference is possibly 600g, which'll make a big difference. Then to get it really light- tyres, rear rim, BB. That's pretty much it. Mod stem can't be doing you any good either.
