MadManMike
Please feel free to correct me if I'm being stupid, but SATA hard drives must have a SATA cable to the motherboard and a power connection from the PSU right? So, is it the norm to have only one power connection from the PSU?I have a new hard drive that I can't use as there's no power source - is there any way round this problem?Slightly annoyed that I have a spanking new drive I can't use. Muel
Do you have spare 4pin molex power cables there Mike? They're used to power IDE drives? If so, you need an IDE to SATA power adapter.

MadManMike
That's whack, if I'd known that I'd have ordered it at the same time Great success!Look what I just found in my toolbox
Muel
I suggest you check amazon too, overclockers can knobble you with postage unless you're a nerd like me and have 250 posts on their forum, in which case you get it free! Get a rounded IDE cable at the same time though please, they're like £3.EDIT: Haha! You're fast. And kinda a willy. Muel
I did exactly the same thing when I was trying to get my 1tb drive to work. Are you a PC builder now then mike? Thinking about a spot or overclocking too maybe?
MadManMike
I've always dabbled in computer building, just never run two hard drives before No need for me to overclock, I'm not a gamer - I just watch films and make music really! Muel
Yeh yeh I used to say that too. Modern games don't really on CPU power too much, it's all about the GPU. As long as you've got a dual core or higher it's generally enough, although they're getting better about using multi cores now.

It just goes jittery all the time...
Jonny Jones
Other obvious option would have been to get a cheap external caddy box and made an external hard drive, but its good you got it all sorted
MadManMike
I just sold my external, due to the fact it was external and took up USB ports

I'm going to upgrade my soundcard at some point, but I'll be needing speakers aswell like a full setup, not arsed about surround sound as I'm more into music, so I was thinking of getting a Hifi amp, a decent sound card with an optical output and linking them up with that, and some nice huge speakers.
