willdudeXD
hey guys, you might have seen this on pink bike aswelli am kinda new to trials and i just got a mad phase 1.3, and to be honest the brakes suck balls, but i cant make my mind up on what brake setup to get!..here are my options:option oneavid bb7 font, magura hs33 rear (but i need a v brake mount adapter too)option two2 avid bb7s front and rear with avid speed dial leversoption threeavid juicy 7 rear avid bb7 front so yeah i dont really know allot of brakes iv jsut kinda gone on reviews and stuff lolany other suggestions would be helpful p.s: im also thinking about getting a halo combat rear wheel..does anyone recon it will be any good fro trials?? there are plenty of reviews about the brakes but i wanted to hear reviews from real trials bikers and not xc or DH ridersor if this offer is still around at chritmas does anyone think it will be worth it? avid elixer 5 set
hdmackay
Well, my advice to you would be to get a set of vees. Considering you already have vee mounts at the back aswell, faffing around with Evo 2 adaptors is annoying.Vee's are GREAT provided you set them up good. I highly reccommend getting something along the lines of an Avid SD7 lever and Caliper. Cable doesn't matter too much, oddyssey or shimano or clarkes will be good. And your choice of pads.Learn how to set them up good. Lube inside the cable to make it feel great.Vee's feel the best out of other brakes, they are easiest to set-up and they tend to have more hold too. Go for it. A good vee that's been set-up good will require ALOT less pressure than a hydraulic. They pull in alot easier too.And yeah... about buckling the wheel, disc or no disc, your gonna want to fix it anyway. Just buy a spoke key for a fiver or something. Truing wheels is very easy when you know what to do.

Lol, i may put some thought into it, depend on what i can afford and all that malarky, but im sure a good set of v's wont cost as much as an avid juicy 7 or similar, so maybe with agood set of vees i can have more money to get more stuff like a new back wheel thanks for the tips man, much appreciated i have never been best at setting up brakes, i ride bmx brakeleess and always have.. i only got a trials bike tuesdaybut im learning fast can already side hop a bench

Vee brakes are ALOT cheaper than Discs if you don't get Ultimates. It's fine mate. Glad to help.If you've been riding for 5 days and can already sidehop a bench that's amazing! Keep it up man.okay, so heres the setup i have come up withi might have to change it due to expenses, avid ultimate(may have to change to avid single digit 7s if there too much) avid speed dial 7echo boosteroddyssey slic linear cable avid bb7 (front brake)rock v-padsgood setup right!?The back vee set-up sounds great however, a wee bit of advice. Don't get the Ultimate calliper. Yeah, sure it's amazing but for about £60 cheaper you could get the SD7 caliper which is basically just as good. Theres a couple of weee tiny things better about the ultimate. But it terms of price, the Sd7 is much much better. The SD7 lever is great. I reccommend that but have a look at it here. http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?pr...;category_id=71Only a tenner.Echo booster will be great.Oddyssey linear slic is what I have. Very nice cable indeed. And the Rock pads on a nice, sharp medium grind will be epic.Sounds like an AWESOME set-up.if you get the SD7 caliper instead of the Ultimate it'll pretty much be just as good and you'll have an extra £60 to spend. sstein
I have sd5 vees on my street bike and with the pads I use they are the most powerful brakes that I have ever tested.I would however recommend front bb7 and rear sd5 both with sd5/7 levers

willdudeXD
i think im gunna get 2 disks cuz i want a neew wheel set rather than buying 2 new seperately cuz i cant find a weheelset disk and v compatible in one, and new forks will be a more expensive option so shal i get and avid elixir5 hydraulic set, or 2 avid bb7's?
