QFT (there's something I haven't used in a while) Especially in economically troubled times, work based qualifications will get you much further as well as easing the workload and salary payments for those that you get placements with. I did neither and my situation ain't all that shit either..
Max Quinn
Who cares, it's fun. Saying that, I'm currently not enjoying my course at all and don't have a clue what to do. Can't quit an go home firstly just cos I'd be bored out of my wits, secondly cos my parents are moving out of Watford so allow going home now to somewhere I wouldn't even know anyone
Papa Manual
Uni is a good crack. Aside from that, a lot of employers prefer degrees not only for the academic side of things, but the 'social skills' you pick up. Since I've gone to uni I've carried on with the vocational stuff I did before but at a much slower pace and it sort of compliments my degree so hopefully I'll be uber employable when I'm done. I'll be able to afford a new liver too .

Working for free/next to nothing, contributing to the economy vs Going through a 3/4 year course funded by the tax payer hmmm..... Agreed, there's a lot of jobs you NEED a specific degree in. I don't argue against that. I think that a lot of people just get a degree for the sake of it though, scared that they'll never get a job unless they have one. This is absolutely not the case. 90% of the times top 100 companies are headed up by people who started in sales jobs, and a vast amount of those had no degree on their way up

This is absolutely not the case. 90% of the times top 100 companies are headed up by people who started in sales jobs, and a vast amount of those had no degree on their way up EVERYONE has a degree now, there as basic as A-levels for well payed jobs now. For example my Dad got a degree equivalent at my age but at 35 had to do 7 days day release to become a manager at Fords, so for the first 7 years of my life I didn't know my Dad and he doesn't want that burden for me. You try getting any job in the city now and its a joke, there are people with degrees and years of experience who are unemployed and flooding the market, how is a kid just done A-levels supposed to compete with that? Why would I want to work for free / next to nothing? With uni I get my own place my own money I get to get away from my family and everything else, and it gives me much better job prospects in the future when I graduate. You can chat about "Alan Sugar" and "Richard Branson" type people all you want it doesn't make any difference to the facts.

Scotty Evil1
I know ive missed the deadline, so probs wont get in, but im thinking/about to apply to do sports therapy, a 3 year course, im doing a years college course in it at the mo, so it seems the logical next step. Looking at, bedford, hertfordshire, worcester, and maybe, coventry, university collage birminham, and edge hill. Anyone have any reviews of that course, and those unis? Im still not 100% sure on going to uni, but my thinking is, my current course give me qualifications in sport massage, body massage, level 2 gym and health and safety, would you want some treating you who's got qualifications after a one year course, or a bachelors degree after a 3 year course? Plus all my friends say uni is an amazing experince and all recomend it. hmmmm
ManxTrialSpaz
I think that coursework may well get the better of me in getting the grades I need for my first choice uni, which a bit shit. Question is, will I get shot in Surrey?
Sam Nichols
Working for free/next to nothing, contributing to the economy vs Going through a 3/4 year course funded by the tax payer hmmm..... LOL Let me think about that for a minute.. Working my balls off for f**k all... OR going balls deep in as many young ladies as my insanely inebriated body will allow.. Then walking out the other end of the uni production line as a qualified aircraft engineer. hmmm..... You fix the economy bro, I'm off to fix myself for life whilst having the time of my life. Muel
£110 for on suite halls is pretty cheap, I know a girl who was on my course for the first couple of weeks who is paying just over £150, which is all of her student loan, grant, burseries, plus a little bit more. You can get a room in a house share for like £65 a week inc bills though...
Captain Scarlet
I'm just going for project cheap, about £80 a week for a room with shared facilities. Working out with my grants and that, after all that I'll have £140 a week to live on.

Joe Aston
Iv got unconditinals from UWE Manchester Met X2 and heartforshire only applied to four. Reckon im going to put them off until next september though, im traveling at the moment so got a bit of debt to pay off plus i want to go away again so im going to need to get a job to pay for that. Plus iv already been offered the job i would most likely do after going to uni anyway because its what i want to do. So all i would be doing at uni would be getting in loads of debt from partying to get a degree i didnt need. Plus all my mates are at uni so having a job means iv got the money to be able to party with them at weekends. As regards to people asking about Nottingham and Nottingham Trent, Nottingham is a cool city good night life, not on the same level as Manchester or Leeds or the other big citys but its got a nice atmosphere. I dont no much about the Unis having never been but the riding is pretty good in Nottingham the city centre is getting a bit harder to ride in and but further a feild there is places like bunny (i think not been for ages). Plus if your into other sorts of riding there is Sherwood Pines which is always good for a XC blast and i think there building some free ride stuff and DH track. Nottingham as a city has loads to do aside from night life and riding, Trent bridge cricket ground hosts England games most years the water sports center. Two big shopping centers. Plus its great for going to see other people at uni the trains are only 2 hours from London and 2 hours to manchester about 2.5 hours from Bristol about an hour and a half from the coast. So loads to do. Thats my veiw. I may be going on about Nottingham and the only reason i didnt apply to go to Uni hear is because i wanted to get away.
