Scotty Evil1
Im still considering whether to apply for uni, i know its near the deadline.Had a careers guide person type thing come into class and talk about uni, didnt help.I do and i dont want to go.I want to go, because it sounds like a great part of life that everyone enjoys and i dont want to miss out on it. ( lifestyle side and higher education side), plus i live in the middle of nowhere where nothing happens and the nearest nightlife is over 30 min away. But, i havnt got a 'reason' to go. Atm, i wont benifit on the education side ( my college course im on, gives me the qualifications to do what i want) and i wont benifit from the debt side, and i havnt got that excitment that all my friends had.Felt like this for last year or so.hmmmmm
N.Wood
You should, I've not a single qualm at all about going to uni, best 3 years of my life so far.

Simpson
I'm still unsure bout the work side of uni, but for now my grades are 1st class and 2:1 material, and i dont think a 2.1 in maths can do me any harm so i might as well work at that. My Dad has always told me "work hard, play hard" exactly what I'm doing here.
RobinJI
I say go for it.Or the other option is to do what I'm doing, 2 years of foundation degree at a college, followed by doing your 3rd year at a uni to top it up to being the equivalent of spending 3 years at uni. I'm comfortably getting buy, paying for my car + project car + bike bits, while living at home for very little rent. And I've got a grands worth of student loan sat in the bank that I haven't needed to touch. Not sure weather to blow it on something fun, or just try and keep it un-touched and pay it off at the end/use it in my last year where I'll be having to live else wear.I'm loving the course, and learning loads. Just sorted a work placement at a place making carbon fibre and fibreglass panels for classic minis/anything else they get asked to do, which looks like it'll be awesome.Although there's not the same lifestyle as at uni, it's still a good laugh, and it's well worth it just for the knowledge, even if I didn't get a certificate at the end I'd still be happy just to be learning this much cool stuff. For the guy choosing between Portsmouth and Plymouth, personally I'd go for Portsmouth. Having lived my whole life in the south west and a fair part of that 30 minutes from Plymouth. The one and only reason being that Plymouth is bloody miles from anywhere! its a grate place to be, but you might as well just add an extra 3 hours onto your journey time to any big events you want to attend, as nothing happens in the big empty space of farmland between Bristol and Exeter, very little happens in Exeter, and then there nothingness again right down to Plymouth, all of which has to be driven through/sat on a train though every time you want to go anywhere. Although that said, it is a beautiful part of the country. Edited December 5, 2009 by RobinJI

~Samsam~
I've applyed and got all 5 offers, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Northumbria, Worcester and Nottingham Trent.Anyone who's at any of them at the moment got any advice on them at all e.g what the ridings like, what the night-life is like etc. ?Northumbria is apparently shitThough maybe that's just an opinion going round Newcastle University, though the person in halls opposite me and the person next door to me both intended to go to Northumbria first before they looked round, then changed to Newcastle The toon itself is nice though

The Hitcher
I'm at Plymouth, I love it.Ahem to that Homez! Its an experience for sure, you can even watch 70's porn whilst drinking copious amounts of alcohol and eating chip sticks.Wish I'd come straight up rather than doing my foundation degree but hey ho... its all good. You can still party like its 1999 and come out the other side with a fancy piece of paper and what not. Captain Scarlet
I'm well down for uni, but keep on thinking I'm rushing into it and should have a year of full time work then go for the 2011 entry. Then again my 2 places of work have no more hours for me to work, let alone go full time.Either way I've got my UCAS all done bar my amended personal statement, I'm applying for 5 courses all "Film and TV Production" or "Television Production". I've put down; Leeds, Bournemouth, Middlesex, Westminster, and Herts for my choices, still in debate of commuting or accommodation for the London based uni's.All the numbers and responsibilities do seem a bit daunting, f**k knows how I'll cope without someone to wash my clothes or make my food, but then again it has to happen at some point, and this is probably the best step for it. It honestly really did help me to work for a year first. Kinda makes you realise how crappy it can be, even though the job I was doing was with friends, with a pretty good atmosphere, and was pretty laid back work I don't mind doing, it was still an eye opener to see the other members of staff, and see exactly what I could be like if I didn't do something about it. Whether that was uni, or finding a better job with better prospects was a different matter, but just being in a shit, dead end job really made me realise the importance at least doing something, and not just settling down into a way of life because it's the easiest path to take. Sam Nichols
Fairly big bump here but I've applied for Aircraft Engineering at Kingston and having done some googling and some searching on here it would appear there is no scene?! I'm not overly concerned as central London is only a train ride away, but would be nice if I could find some people from here who are studying at Kingston, anyone? I've found a few very short videos of someone riding trials at Kingston, but I can't work out if it's Kingston in London or one of the many other Kingston's dotted around the world! Sooo, anyone here studying there already or going to be starting this year?
J.KYDD
Kinda the same deal. Im off to Cumbria Uni in september to do outdoor leadership, Penrith campus. Anyone already there? Any riders from the area?

Joe_Elding
I think Tim Rodriguez used to ride in Kingston, might be worth a pm? Joe Hodges (unicycle rider) also lives in kingston, as do i, although i dont ride anymore.. Also theres a video with quite a lot of kingston in it, I think it was made by either a guy called simon pearless or maybe stephen morris? and i think (although this is literally just a memory) that the video is called Richard III. so thats probably worth a search.. shamus
plymouth is great, so much more relaxed nights out here compared to a lot of cities i've visited, don't believe the union street crap. it aint dangerous unless you're a complete numpty and decide the aquilla need some abuse. either way i can hear what someone said about it being a long way from anything else interesting, having said that, if anything good happens in the true south west, it'll happen in plymouth normally, plus nearby beach in summer can't be beaten!
