Jan Tore
Hi.So, I've just had to accept that the Foxx frame isn't optimal for me. And, I've decided to get a new frame again.I guess you understand I want to be sure that I get a good frame that fits me now, so here comes a few questions.First of all, I'm 6'2 tall and 75kg. I'm very fond of natural riding, but also an active tgs rider. What would be a good comprimise between the two? Am I looking for high BB rise for obstacle clearing? I really just need advice. Maybe I could use a new stem as well? Got the Trialtech welded(125 - 20) now.I feel really cramped on the bike at the moment. Sure, it's flicky and fun. But in the end, it limits me, as I can't stand on the rear wheel comfortably.Any advice is very appreciated. eskimo
You bought a £500 frame and don't like it? That's a bummer. The best thing to do i've found with frames, is buy a few cheap ones over time to test the geos. But it's best to switch up the components before parting out with the frame, you will also need to give yourself a few weeks to get properly used to the bike. This will give you more of idea where what you actually like. Then when you feel you've found something you ride nicely and comfortably on with whatever style you're into, then you buy something that has the right geo but also the colour, weight and features you want. Or you then go custom.I would say the Echo Pure on Tarty. Or go second hand. The 09 Pure (luckily the cheapest), is a geo you may want to consider? Same as you have now but with loads more room up front. Longer wheelbase and real steep head angle will easily bring your body to the centre of the bike, if not put you over the bars more. But i doubt you'll feel cramped. It's probably wise to buy a new stem before parting out with your Foxx. Maybe on of them Hifis in 130mm? Chances are you would want to try another stem with that Pure anyway. The 130mm is lower overall than your current stem as well, which is what you TGS guys like right? You may end up with a collection of stems, but this help when you come to buying a new frame in the future too, so don't sell them. Hopefully that helps. Hopefully that helps.I've actually had the Echo Pure 09`, short version though. It's a decent riding frame, but again, slightly short. It bent, so that's why I bought the Foxx. Now, I've been looking a bit on the Piranha and Control long. I guess these are frames that could actually fit me. I'll just have to buy and see I guess. LukasMcNeal
Take a look at the rockmans, they are really sweet!
Jan Tore
I think I might try a new stem/handlebar combo as eskimo said. A friend of mine, tilted my bars forward today. And it actually made a pretty sagnificant change to the length of the bike.
Rusevelt
Im not as tall as you at 5'11ins, but this Viz Welded 160mm/25 rise stem im currently using on my Pitbull will certainly give you better leg room and backwheel control. Rusevelt
Gilles Cousteiller uses 170mm/30 rise i think on his Sliver Sky. whatever the length it is, its certainly longer than mine. Jan Tore
Well, it looks crazy, but for all I know, it might work.I'm going to try with 130-18 SL stem and Tryall carbon risers now soon though, so I'll see if that makes the difference.
