Thats the problem with light weight comp based frames. Snappy snappy! But to say all montys are crap is a little unfair i had an urban for 2 years and not a problem!

The urbans were years ago? Monty's changed a lot since then.

Thats crazy.. How is the downtube different from previous years? iv had 6 montys and only ever cracked an 05 on the chainstay.

i never realised how thin the material actually is..

It's a completely new frame, doesn't share a tube with any other Monty. Aluminium frame tubes are often that thin, I have a T-Pro with a hole in the downtube, and that tubings about the same thickness.

Probably it would just prolong the time until it fails.

Judging by the fact that very few seem to have snapped, or people are not saying I would say that there are some welding quality issues with particular frames.

The crack seems to be starting by the weld and moving around the tube.

Bit worrying really.

Wanted to get one of them but would be really pissed off if it happened to mine.

that is not what you really expect when you buy a $1000 frame.

I could have snapped mine the same way but I welded it in time. Now I have upper right chainstay falling off ecause of a big crack.

This made me think that they made not to last longer than 6 months.
