Disk Brake

Hey everyone

I got my new forks yesterday (Echo team 07) and I ve fitted everything on fine, but the rotor edge is rubbing (slightly) against the caliper!!!

So it seems like the rotor is too big, but before I was using Monty 221 pr forks, and that worked fine.

My disk brake is Magura louise 160mm

can anyone help ??

You should be able to pop 1 or 2 equal size washers on each side under the caliper mount, bascially between the caliper mount and adapter. This will bring your caliper up and away :)

I ve already got 2 on each bolt, I m guessin i need more

Theres already spacers in the bolts that attaches the caliper to the forks !?

Thats what you mean right? where else can i put them :ermm:

Usually there are two places to put the spacers. Either between the frame and the bracket, or between the bracket and the caliper. Now i cant say for sure as i have no idea how the brake-mounts on your bike are designed, but as far as i know brackets are usually attached to the frame using horizontal bolts. This would mean that putting spacers between the frame and the bracket would shift the caliper sideways (useful if it was rubbing the sides), and putting spacers between the bracket and the caliper would shift the caliper out/in in relation to the disc.

So if i am understanding your problem right, and i would like to think that i am, the place to put spacers would be between the bracket and caliper, to get the caliper a bit further away from the disc.

That's an IS mount, IS brake...but it looks as if its either designed for a 155mm rotor ( which they don't make ) or the mount is simply welded a little too low.

Not sure really what to suggest; but it shouldn't do too much harm if it's left, after all the aluminium calliper will just have a deep scratch in it, so if its free-ish to move id just go bugger it and run as is.

Here's a quick trick to try. Take your wheel out and loosen all the bolts holding the disc on. Now twist the disc clockwise and hold it as far clockwise as it will go and tighten the bolts. It should hopefully centre the disc and give you a tiny bit more space.

Erm....surely that wont do anything if the run is all the way around due to the mount being lower?

That may take a high spot off, if the disc is somehow misaligned on the hub...or am i missing something?
