Joe O'Connor
I want to know what chains people use on there bikes.I just snapped my half link $40 dollar one today (My second chain) and have gotten a $45 dollar SRAM PC-7X one. The guy in the shop said that it will be able to hold up to trials standards. What chains are you guys using/what are your fav's? Im sick of smashing my leg on the handel bars when they break. Revolver
Nearly everyone uses some form of KMC kool chain, be it a thick one, a 8sp one, or a SL one.
Phatmike
I've been using KMC Kool chains for about 7 years, and recently (only the last 4 chains or so) have been literally falling apart within a few weeks. Before that, they'd last 6 months easily!Matt Burrows has noticed the same, and gone for a trialtech lite (??) chain, which seems to be pretty good. Not a fan of the KHE chains in the slightest, would others recommend the TT Lite as a suitable replacement too? If not which
ogre
trialtech lite is where it's at! i'm a big rider and my chains clocked well past the 6 month mark hardly any wear on the sprockets either cause they're stretch proof
Joe O'Connor
trialtech lite is where it's at! i'm a big rider and my chains clocked well past the 6 month mark hardly any wear on the sprockets either cause they're stretch proof The problem is that I dont think anyone in NZ sells trialtech parts. It would be awsome if I could get proper trials parts easy, but I can only buy trials things such as frames, wheels, tires, forks, brakes and handel bars. No other trials bits.Is this SRAM PC-7X going to be good? The guy said that track and sprint riders use them so I would imagine that its strong.P.S Are half link chains any good? weirdoku
KHE collapse to ease your mind Since I've had mine I haven't had one single thought of my chain snapping, if you keep them oiled it runs great
Matthew62
I didn't really like my KHE. It did stiffen up a lot and i snapped it one or two times so i wa snot overly impressed. I rather nervously tried the trialtech chain due to good reviews but was scepticle as i ride street and do a lot of moves at pace i was wondering if it would be burly enough, as i'm not so bothered about weight. To be honest its been brilliant, less trouble than the KHE and has stretcjed a lot less too. I'm a big fan.

If not which Yeah, I'd avoid Kools if I was you they are really badly made these days. My Trialtech lite seems good so far, time will tell. My best advice to you is to buy one of these and replace your chain as soon as it is worn 0.75mm

sstein
I used a 'Taya chrome BMX' chain once as I had no money to get a better chain at the time but I discovered they are fantastic and now have them on all of my bikes. Never had a single problem with one!
