DaiTrials
Hi I took the bar and stem from my 24UK onto my inspired fourplay and what seemed fine is now really bad.I used to be able to manual easily, the front end came up no problem and I could bunny hop well too (over bar height up onto things)Now on the inspired the front end feels hard to pull up and to hold. I realize that the frame is lightly longer and also the BB is +10 over the 24UK. Anyway my questions are about improving my setup...I currently have a hope CNC 90mm stem with 10 degree rise, and azonic double walls 2.5" risersI appreciate that adding height will prob be the first step forward. are there any bars with larger than a 2.5" rise? what about a larger degree rise in the stem (no more room for stem stacker's as the steerer of the forks is too short) Other than this what else is going to make it feel nicer for poping up/bunny hops/manuals etc...Ignoring the obvious need for rise, what about the length of the stem Longer? shorter? and what about bar width? would longer bars make things easier, more angled bars?I would love some detailed answers, feel free to throw some explications my way too if you like. Would be nice to hear from anyone with a good setup too, especially if you ride the inspired. Thank youDave Edited November 15, 2009 by DaiTrials
jambo
I found that when i had my bars tilted quite far forward it felt good on the back wheel but i struggled with bunny hops and manuals, so i tilted them back for a more streety feel and haven't looked back since. Luke Rainbird
Bump up the front end a little, like you've said. I was comfortably running a 90*10 stem with a set of Monty risers on my 24UK, which was spot on really.Since switching to my Inspired, I've played around with a few different setups and settled for a 90*15 stem, some 2.5" double walls and 10mm of stackers (due to a short steerer, like yours). Bunnyhops are pretty sweet, it'll sit on the backwheel nicely enough, and it generally feels tasty all round. I wouldn't go for anything longer in terms of stems really - 100mm at a push perhaps, but I'd not want any more that's for sure.I'm running my bars uncut (around 28" or so) which feels pretty sweet, though I'd consider dropping them by about 10mm or so each side which'd help a tad
Simpson
Im running 12 degree, 90mm stem, with those cheap riser DMR things on tarty cut down an inch with no stackers... streeeeet beast.
Matthew62
I run 15mm of stackers. Hope 90x10 stem and deity 2014 bars which have 50mm rise and it bunnhops just fine. I'd add a bit more rise if i could but it really is fine, for trials its good and it comes up easy enough. I have my bars tilted quite far back now and that really has made a world of differance. cai
Hi I took the bar and stem from my 24UK onto my inspired fourplay and what seemed fine is now really bad.I used to be able to manual easily, the front end came up no problem and I could bunny hop well too (over bar height up onto things)I too run a Trialtech stem on my 24UK, with 27" wide Monty bars - and its the perfect comprimise between trials and street.I tried out a Zoot frame on this bike before to see what all the fuss was about (just put every component onto the Zoot, as Zoots are supposed to be the same geo as Inspired) and hated it, I think the 24UK is just a nicer geo.I would get a shorter stem on there to make the 'reach' shorter like it would of been on the Heatsink, and tilt the bars back for the same effect. DaiTrials
Turns out that the fact i could have any spacers on my steerer and the 10deg stem wern't my only problems. My fatty r forks are only 380mm long which is very short for forks. After asking around, turns out my BB is 16mm lower than normal and my bars a massive 62mm after doing the maths. So thats why it feel hideous.AM waiting on new forks (09 echo urbans) to come back in stock at tarty, and since their brand new I can get some stackers in too, thanks for all your input. I knew something was wrong...
