Ben John-Hynes
yoo. Just got a front vee, it's on with standard pads at the moment but it's shockingly bad.Anyway, what I'm wanting to know- what pads would give the best disk brake characteristics? I don't want stupid bite, but hold and modulation would be nice. So your input/experience here would be greatly appreciated. They'll be on a light/medium grind on a stock.Cheers for any help. ogre
what vee is it? what cable/lever you running? cause i got away with stock pads on the rear for a week or two and i'm a heffer, give one side of the rim a brutal grind and the other a medium grind, set the pads so the first pads closer to th medium grind... Ben John-Hynes
Interesting. Cheap Shimano arms, Sd7 lever and Clarks cable. I ideally wanted to stay away from harsh grinds, but I may give it a shot if it'll save me £14+ haha

duncan_echo26
I have a Shimano Deore arms, clarks cable and avid fr5 lever.I'm still waiting for my heatsink pads but i have been using the standard shimano ones for a couple of weeks and they have be ok.Don't use shimano pads on a grind! I did on my rear vee and the pads were gone in about an hour.
forteh
You need a super light grind and something like coustsinks Spin the wheel in the forks and literally for 1/2 second, should just touch the surface and mark it; not a proper grind though. Reverse mount forks give more modulation and vice versa.
phobia
i run an SD5 with a clarks cable and an XT leveri dont see the point getting maggie pads on a vee, most of these conversions leave the arms too wide spead which loses braking poweri few people i know have vees and we all agree the fibrax pads are the best leaving you arm at a decent spacing and giving awsome braking power(a couple of my mates have also taken sandpaper to the pads and then rubber tar in to the abrasion for an added touch)i have run these on back and front and they have never let me down
