trialsmax04
I know this has been coverd many times but i cant decide what would be the best route of action. Basicly i gave the hope a service yesterday, and got the tinyest bit of fluid on the pads. Both the pads and rotor where near new so if i could at least salvage the rotor i will be happy. Ive tried white spirit but that was rubbish. Any ideas people?max

trialsmax04
Take a look!Cheers man I think i will try some nail varnish remover as someone said. Will most likely have to replace the pads but i will try to evaporate the fluid off them. Thanks
ScottTrials
scouring pad, wire brush thats what i use. Had to do it 10 minutes ago as i had my hope bleed and the guy is one off the messiest bleeders around. This works a treat and you dont have to buy anything new. trialsmax04
well i have heated the pads and rotor to buggery, sanded the pads down, cleaned the rotor woth solvent. and still gash. Im not worried about the pads as i dont mind replacing, but i want the rotor properly clean otherwise there is no point in me getting new pads. Any other suggestions?max

davey1991
hmm going to have another go. i gave up when the pads started poping hahaYou'll probably find that under hard breaking they'll now rip off the backings. It was me that suggested the nail varnish remover and that has always worked for me.If not try using it along with sandpaper then re-bed in your break. Alex Dark
Once the pad has been heated the oil goes further into the pad compund, thus ruining the chances of decontaminating it. The rotor should be cleaned with ONLY Isa ( isopropyl alcohol ) what hayes, hope and diatech recommend.

You should probably just change the pads its easier than trying to de-contaminate them and you wont compromise performance or even safety.
