Jan Tore
Hi.So, I built my first wheel today. It came out pretty good, apart from the fact that it needed a lot of adjusting afterwords. Is there something I can do to prevent the nipples from turning whilst building the wheel? /Jan Tore
Ben John-Hynes
Did you put the same amount of turns on each nipple when building it? I've never had problems with nipples moving whenever I've built a wheel, maybe just be more careful?
Fixed Pants™
Did you grease the nipples? The need for re adjustment is gonna be the fact that the spokes 'cut' into the flange of the hub so it will definitely need some care after it's built. LukasMcNeal
Surely if the nipples are turning the spokes are nowhere near tight enough?
Jan Tore
Well, problem is that I can't really tighten the nipples up to much before all of the spokes are in the rim. Whilst putting the spokes in, the hub and rim are moving, which causes movement in the nipples.

sstein
I have never had this problem and I don't grease the nipples until after all of the spokes are in place. Are you sure you turned them all the same amount? Also you have to consider the fact that after 3 or so spokes are in the spokes can't really turn enough to undo the nipples.
