Duncy H
Right, I have been stripping the paint from my rim using nitromours but seen as it is double walled I am finding it very difficult to get it out of all of the nooks and crannys between the two walls of the rim. Does anyone have any tips to make it less tedious and easier?Or can somebody offer me advice on how to go about single walling my rear seen as it is one of the heaviest out there (zhi) and is going on a lightweight bike?Any help is much appreciated. I'm not sure though.Nah I stripped the anodising off with Caustic Soda, but yeh i cut the inner wall out.Take an angle grinder with a cutting disc, chop between the holes in the inner wall, (so you get pieces out of it as big as you can get them), then get a grinding disc and tidy it up! Duncy H
I was awaiting your reply since I saw you were online. So i am under the impression to basically cut along either side of the wall on the edge of the rim and then next to the holes too? then any bits left just grind off?Any pics by chance? Muel
Nope sorry, I got pics of me cutting the holes in my front rim bigger though? They're in my Simtra topic, there's a link in my sig.Basically the rim should look something like this:| O || O || O |In the inner wall, you want to join the edges of all of the holes in two lines that run round the rim. (I actually scribed them on). This will cut the inner wall out in sections, then you can just tidy it up with a grinding disc. Can I just check, what rim do you have? Some rims have several box sections, I'm talking about an Atomz, which has two little tubes in the corners and you need to leave them in, as if you remove them apparantly it make it a lot weaker. I think Ben Slinger did one and removed the tubes in the corners, didn't last long haha.
Duncy H
Mine is a zhi rim. I still don't quite get what you mean. So I should try to cut out a section around the wheel about the width of the holes? and not like a front rim where it pretty much goes all the way across to the sidewall? It seems to have a bit of a join in the holes from what I can see between the two walls, is this what you mean?
