trialsmax04
hi all, i broke my monty snail cams a while ago, and need new ones. But ive been running them on the outside of my monty 221ti frame. I want to fit them to the inside but there is no room as the axel is too big. Is it just a case of tacking a few mm of each side of the axel?max
Echo-Scott
Monty's are designed to have the snail cams run on the outside. You'll be best off just running them on the outside to be honest.Unless you want to streach the back of the frame out a bit, But its not going to do any good to your rear end doing that. trialsmax04
hmmm yea. The 221pr in the for sale forum has them on the inside. im wondering if i need a larger diameter hole in my snail cam to fit over the axel a tiny bit.max

But on some frames it has to be inside, some hubs are actually 110 spacing, each cam is 3mm thick so a pair makes up the remaining 6mm to fit in the 116mm spaced dropouts. There's some hubs thats 116mm spaced without cams, my old ZHI hub was like this I had to sand down 3mm on each side to fit cams with 10mm axle holes. trialsmax04
Yea i see where your coming from, but if i could get snail cams that had a large enough diameter hole to take the axel it would work as the echo hub has spacers between the hub body and frame with a few mm spare. I supose to accomodate snail cams...
weirdoku
Monty snail cams have 10mm holes, almost all other cams have 10mm holes so you shouldn't have a problem.
trialsmax04
Thats weird. Is the axel on the echo free hub a larger diameter than normal in that case?If im really carefull i should be able to take a few mm off my axel?max Edited November 5, 2009 by trialsmax04
elliott the onza man
Just stick with them on the outside, there really is not much difference.
