George.E
Ok, I can sidehop about handle bar hight an i have been riding for around a year and 2 months. My good foot is my left foot an I sidehop with that one forward but I also sidehop to the left.Having my left foot forward and sidehoping to the left is this limiting me to how high I can go?Or is it normal to have this set up?Any advice or pointers would be greatful.Thanks.George. A.Baxter
If you learn to side hope with your left foot forward but go to the right it may meen you can go higher i used to do it right foot forward and go to the right and changed not too long ago to right foot forward and go to the left and now i can get bigger sidehops i feel it gives you more room so makes it feel more controlled , you also get extra clearence from the wall as your kicking foot isnt right next to it and therfore can't get caught.Adam

Echo-Scott
Its normally easyer to sidehop to your opposite foot(Right footed - Sidehop left) as it will give you more clearance from the wall and it allows you to have more room to tuck(No, Dont try to tuck. But it just happens when you start doing higher walls/rocks etc). But not in all cases, As Neil T displays quite nicely. My advice. Learn to go the opposite way, It will feel gash and horid to begin with. It did for me. But once you get it then its alot easyer.Im right footed and the highest i got to my right before i changed was 38" ish(Just over bar). I changed to the left and i have done 50". Can get around 45" pretty consistantly depending on the set-up and stuff.

newtrialsbiker
Just in case switching sides doesn't help, it's always worth looking at your technique and seeing if there's anything you can tweek there that will allow you to get extra height. When I first started side-hopping, I used to kick so much that i'd forget to pull up on the front meaning I could only hop about wheel height. I looked at my technique, noticed I wasn't pulling up, started pulling up and doubled the height I was side-hopping within minutes. There's loads of videos on youtube about how to sidehop and tips on getting extra height.Keep us updated man.
