Not sure if its faulty or just bedding in?Mine skipped a little when it was fairly new as well.......works really well now I've serviced it, cleaning out the old grease and lubing it with thin oil. Engagement is positive as ever, sounds a little louder but most importantly, NO skips! .
Mark W
They're pretty packed full of grease, and some of the excess grease in the sealed bearings will seep into the ratchet too - just strip 'n' clean it. If you go into the FAQ or Wiki, there's a bit in there about how to do it all, although I should point out from the outset it's childs play! JKH
From my experience it's best to open and clean WI freewheels before first use. Make sure the springs are working, clean and wipe a little triflo on the pawls to prevent them from rusting. Sometimes little bits from the end of the pawls break off and get into the mechanism after one or two rides. Also, it's obvious but check that the lockring is tight. nek0
Agree with Onza & JKH. One WI freewheel I had skipped twice, opened it up, cleaned up the extra grease and whatever that was inside and lubed it with Tri-Flow. Loud and no skips since. And make sure the green cover plate is secure they do often come loose (about the only problem with these FW). Other than that, the best freewheel ever. Echo-Scott
Very True. Its either got a bit too much grease in it or its just bedding in a little. Give it a quick clean and it should be good.
