Mikey-uk
Heya, recently got a new lever blade fitted on the Marta. First few days it felt amazing but since then each time i go to ride it feels weaker, done a quick bleed to pump any air out and refill resivour etc but its still slack.Secondly, my left hand crank kept coming loose so I bought both a new BB and a new crank arm, still exactly the same problem, no matter how tight i do it up it will come loose and be able to wobble left and right within 20yd's or so, whats up with that? Can anyone please help me with these issues? Thanks in advance.
George.E
For the bb problem have you greased the axle on it ? Just a thought.
Mikey-uk
I did put a small layer or greese on the axle before putting the new crank on.
dandadude
Hi, I had a similar crank arm problem with a left middleburn crank, you might have too long a bolt in your crank arm and its just going tight due to bottoming out in the bb so not clamping the arm to the bb. Try putting some washers between the head of the bolt and the crank arm and see if that makes any difference. Might be something else but that's the only problem i've ever had.And as far as the marta, have you checked for leaks and any loose fittings? It may just be coincidence a fitting has come loose 2 days after you fitted your lever.Dan
Mikey-uk
Thanks for the bolt idea, will look into it. For the Marta after a rebleed I tested it and the lever felt exactly the same, there was the usually ammount of weeping from the resivoir but its not actually leaking, just the smallest little drop. After the bleed it should feel better regardless of a leak (untill it pisses out again). Recently cleaned the pads + rotor but again... Problem is in the lever feeling slack.
RossMcd
For the Marta do up the little allen key bolt at the lever It should reduce the slack.
ogre
you dont grease square taper splines/cranks on the interface >.<
Mikey-uk
Tried tightening the little bolt on the lever blade, did nothing. I can see the pads moving the moment i pull the lever and it does bite its just i feel its slack. My HS33 rear is nice and solid wheras the marta is all meh. psycholist
Try topping up the lever reservoir. It fixed some inconsistent bite on mine back when I bought it.
Mikey-uk
When I said that I bled the brake that also means topping up the resivoir, thanks anyway.Gunna try spacers on the crank arm bolt. Still need a solution to the spongy lever.

totaltrials
Is the brake set up correctly at the calliper? If it's too far over one side it'll flex the rotor giving a spongy lever effect. If you've got oil on the pads, you can't just clean it off as the oil soaks into the pad very easily. You need new pads. The lever reach adjustment screw will tighten the lever up, you said it didn't do anything, but it should do, is something broke?Apart from that, there is still air in the system, even though you've bled it there can still be air in the system. I'd follow the instructions on Magura.de or any instructional videos around the internet and do it again.Don't ever pull the brake when it's upside down either, and don't pull it when the wheel isn't in. If you've done this, it could affect the performance and you'll need a re-bleed.With your cranks. It's likely to be the crank bolt. Julius Czar
For the crank bolt, jam some loctite in there, that should sort it. (thats if it is a problem with the threads) if not, try Dandadude's idea, that should work if its a clamping problem

It's not worth it.If he's got a new left hand crank and new bottom bracket and it's coming loose after 20yards, it won't need thread lock, there's more too it than that. So I wouldn't advise forking out on any thread lock.New bolt = sorted.
sstein
you dont grease square taper splines/cranks on the interface >.< and who told you that! You need to put grease on there just like any interface that you don't want to get stuck together forever. If you have ever had to cut a crank arm off an old bike to replace the bottom bracket you will know what I mean.
Mikey-uk
Found out that the crank arm taper was too small, will tarty cover this? Messed up a bleed earlier and let some air into the system will re-bleed tomorrow. Thanks for all the help so far guys Bolt still cones undone but not as often.
