BlueSmokeyJoe
Having just got my bike working properly, I'm seriously considering taking it down to uni with me to ride down to lectures and wherever else I find lol. It will only be left for a few hours at a time, however I need to first buy a suitable bike lock, by that, I mean a decent one. Can anyone recommend a good bike lock? Cheers
mr ailsbury
You may only be leaving it for a few hours but it only takes a minute or 2 to get a lock off and nick it. Just buy a cheap ass bike out of the paper so it doesn't matter if it gets shanked.

forteh
The only lock you can depend on is an almax, however at 4.5kg for 1m of chain alone its a bit of a ball ache, youre also looking at 100 quid with a decent padlock, just get a shitter bike
ZHI-sam
or a kryptonite one, they have insurance so if the bike gets pikeyed they pay out
MikeCottTrials
Don't do it! I have learnt the hard way how easily they can get locks off

I suppose it depends on area and the campus though, I always locked my bike in plain sight, where there were always lots of people, cable went through both wheels, the frame and around a solid post (lamp post usually). sstein
I was thinking of doing the same thing, but I changed my mind based on the fact that when some pikey tries to steal it and can't get through the lock, they will just smash it up. I am in the middle of trying to find a really cheap frame that I can still ride trials on but not have to worry if it gets stolen or broken! nek0
Not worth the hassle...you better buy a chain lock like Kryptonite that will require plasma torch to cut it off. Or something like that...

A friend of mine was telling me how there is a fault with the locking system on most kryptonites meaning that they can be easily picked with an odd method (not going to say what it is) and even if they couldn't you can get through them with bolt cutters and various other methods. koxx2009
Rite a don’t know what you’re teachers will be like but at collage I just explained the fact that it is a very expensive bike and a part off your life. I said if ma bike could cook a would get rid off the girlfriend. Puppy dog eyes would help a little bit i think, now I leave my bike in the cleaners room or the tecknitions hall so it is perfectly safe. It is worth asking they will ever say yes or no so there is nothing to loseluke
