Do you think this would nice?

Firstly a stock Onza Blade... Yes I know nothing to special but then...

Do it up with GOLD and get the following...

In Gold:

Neon Bashplate with Bolts & Rubber

Try-All Titanium Bolts, for various parts

Echo Urban 4-Bolt Brake Booster

Try-All Loc-All Grips

Hope Space Doctor Kit (headset spacers)

Try-All Aluminium Caged Pedals

And Then In White:

Trialtech Rim Tape (for front and back rims)

Please comment on anything negative about it and positive as i intend to do this for christmas

Thanks

it would look ok but i think white would be better

Really?

That was my original plan but quite a thew people said it would end up looking rubbish...

So i don't know?

Maybe it would be better to decide once i get the bike.

Still what does everyone else think?

Thanks Liam =D

Gold/Tacky

Really I didn't of it like that but if you think so what colours would you recomend?

Thanks Liam =D

If you're suggesting seasonal decoration then yes. Work a few bits of red in there and jingle all the way.

However for a permanent investment, nothing says 'Cheap Elizabeth Duke Baubles' like gold. Just my opinion. :D

More constructively (and again, just opinion); I'd pick a more bold colour on a white bike (2009 model presumably?). Then if you can, go for the same manufacturer for your coloured trinkets. That way the colour should be a better match.

Ok so ditch the gold... Its cheap and nasty looking.

So run a red and white colour scheme?

Red and white would look great. Red anodised parts can look a bit inconsistent though. Sometimes they turn out a bit pinky, but if you're happy with that then no worries, it'll still look smart.

Blue or green would also be good. What I'm trying to get at I suppose, is contrast.

You're right when you say that you should get the bike first and see what you think. Be patient before lashing your money on loads of bits ;)

Lol I'm not worried about andonized red parts looking pinky (like neon parts often do) as on my current bike I have gusset slim jim alloy peddles in limited edition bright pink and pink grips and intended to get pink rims but decided I might as well get a new bike (I am also desperate for a straight frame) , and thats why I started this thread =D

I like the sound of red and also green, what about fluro green because that really would be contrast.

Thanks Liam =D

Haha, I like the sound of proper lairy colours. Also think about what parts you're going to get though. Say if you got fluoro green rims then found out all the other bits you want are only available in a normal anodised green, it might look a bit mis-matched. Maybe that's a bit fussy, but if you're going to the expense of colour scheming, you might as well research the hell out of it and get it looking perfect.

You could blow hundreds on this easily :D

Yeh good point and I definetley don't want to waist a lot of money because when your 11 and get 5 pound a week which half of goes by the end of the week I really do need to research it all. So I'm just going to spend ages on tarty =D

Thanks Liam =D

I'm definatley ditching Fluro green as a quick search on Tartybikes showed that you can only get grips and rims in fluro green, so maybe andonized green and i'm going to check out red.

Thanks Polyrhythm for the good advice on this.

Good plan. Perhaps if you went for handlebars, pedals and a chainstay protector or something, that would would keep the cost down but still give a balanced look.

Anyway, I'll stop spending your money for you now mate. You're lucky to be getting a decent bike, never mind colouring it in with posh bits ;)

Right I'm thinking along the lines of: Echo Lever Blade, Echo Brake Booster in andonized green to improve braking and looking nice and also V!Z rim tape in green to go with the booster and lever and then some Wellgo Shin Dig pedals in a silvery/whiteish colour to match the frame. Which will be around 80 pound

And as for the chainstay protector I will be getting the Onza Blade of Tartybikes so I will just use the free one from them and the Onza Citrus Pads so my back brake will be pretty sweet (with the upgraded lever, pads and booster). And as for the handlebars I'm not to fussed about them.

And by the way I don't care about you spending my money for me you probably know better than me!

Thanks loads for the advice Polyrhythm

They all seem like good upgrades man, although, handlebars is quite a biggy. The stock bars that come with a blade are 'flat' bars, which in my own personal opinion... suck! Your a full member now, so if you can hunt down some '05 Zoo! risers off one of the other loverly forum users that will make the bike feel sweet :)

As for braking, do you wanna grind your rim (to improve braking performance) or keep it smooth? If you go for a grind, citrus pads will last you about half hour. If you have a spare £25 lying about, invest in some Phat pads with CNC backings. Trust me man, there awesome brake pads :)

I went off the whole 'coloured' theme ages ago, i just don't see the point in making my bike look like a metal christmas tree :P (white and black ***) :D

Hope thats of any help to you mater

Chris

Whooo member now!

I have never rode a bike with riser bas so I'm not sure on buying them incase I don't like them but I guess I will have to find out some way.

No I want to keep my rim smooth and use tar with the citrus's (which is what I'm doing now).

I'm starting to agree with the colour thing and going of it myself, I might aswell just buy a second hand bike with the upgrades already on it to save money and get a better bike. So can I post a wanted for something as unspecific as a mod with a straight frame with good upgrades and good brakes?

Thanks Liam =D
