peggysue
ok here goes....my mate has his new frame so i now have his czar stock frame 07 long version in white.when he used the czar he had a 128mm isis bb with echo cranks. they just cleared the rear magura slaves by 2mm or so. i new my crappy fsa cranks and square taper bb would not clear so bought the longest square taper bb available. 127.5 mm.when i tighten the driveside crank on it just clears the slave by 1mm (so so close)when i tighten the non drive side crank its about 3mm over the slave so no chance in hell of it clearing. the non drive crank arm is pretty rounded and tightens further on than a new arm would. so for now ive bodged some tin can on the axle and ive got about 2mm clearance so the bike is rideable.would a set of square tapered middleburns fit ok? and give enough clearance. im wondering if certain cranks have different amounts of angle thus more or less clearance. i cant afford a whole new isis bb and cranks for a month or two.. so i need to make do with a cheap option. ben john hynes has another pair of fsa cranks same as mine for 15quid . the tapers are fine and could be first option. i dont want to risk spending abit more on some middleburns to find they have poor clearance issues...what should i do lol!!!cheers people
TROYston
Wack a spacer on it, use a bit of bmx bar and grind to fit and your clearance is sorted. i have done it on my DJ and its fine.

3dd
There are a lot of frames that have the same problem, i.e my old LE had 2-3mm on each side with 128mm BB and try-all cranks, and same with my new Yaabaa stinger 2-3mm.I think prety much all the cranks have the same offset, but you could give tarty a call and find out. If the cranks you are taling about are healthy, tappers woud still not last to long as every time you tighten them up would reduce the distance. Although it might last you until you get ISIS BB and cranks that would not move into BB as much.
