BigAl
Cracked my 08 tp, love the way it rides so may get it welded. But i heard it probably wouldnt last long. So would it be a good idea to weld some support on? Like a gusset over the crack?Bearing in mind the crack is all around the top tube, almost to the gussets between the top and down tube. IOLO
just get the crack welded if i were you.grind it out first, then fill it in.it will mess up the heat treating for sure. but not too bad.i wouldnt bother with a gusset, will just make the heat treating go even worse and on a bigger area.also once welded its a good idea to leave it for a week with no riding. willis-gu
Yo, my frame cracked in pritty much the same place but mine was due to a dent. However, i got my frame welded and it lasted about 3 months, was really pleased with it, however sure enough it recracked and eventually snapped. But if i were you i would fully recoment getting it welded! If the crack is that bad, it will snap in half soon, thats what mine was like when it snapped. mcinnes
My GU cracked in that exact spot and i got it welded a few months ago, the guy that sorted it welded the crack and welded a support over it then painted it for me. It's still going strong and looks beast
